D&D General Do Your Human Characters Match Your Ethnicity (etc)?

Sometimes. I don't worry too much about ethnicity when designing characters. I look for memorable characters that fit well in the setting and with the other characters in the group. Now I do avoid accents. My ability to do them is rather poor and I think they would come off as insulting to...

I have heard... Friendly Local Game Store and Full Line Game Store Both are valid I suppose. Eric

    D&D Minis on the Decline?

I can tell you that my buying has gone down, and it has nothing to do with 4th edition. The 5 factors that have caused me to buy less and less... 1: *&^%*(& Random Packs. 2: The new sets are kind of bleh. Same old crap or very bizarre mini's I have zero use for. 3: New sets every 3 months...

Whats wrong with the 3E fighter?

I have never had a problem with the fighter. In fact, in the last 3.5 campaign I ran, the fighter was probably the most powerful character. The game had no characters using feat combo's for uber abilities, ended around level 13, and I let all casters cast spontaneously. Yes, at 13th level...

D&D 4E My 4e House Rules that have nothing to do with 1-2-1 movement

A squared + B squared = C squared - good old Pythagorus will get you the exact distance of a diagonal movement ;)

Some things just really get me steamed

Why do people have to be such jerks? http://vfte.cyberpunk.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=6634 - see post 7 and down... Arg, I just need to let someone know that this really bothers me :( Eric

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

As a 30 year veteran of D&D, I am deeply saddened by this news just like everyone else. Though I never met him face to face, I have enjoyed chatting with him in the numerous "Ask Gary" threads. Logging onto enworld/trolllord forums and seeing those threads and realizing they will never be...

    D&D 4E Not going to 4e

I can tell the game is aimed at a much different audience than me. I simply have no interest in the game and have since moved on to 2nd edition and C&C for my games. Eric

Dear WotC: Please Kill Massive Damage

I never used this rule as once you got to the higher levels and everything did at least 50 damage per attack, that means a PC was going to die once every 20 times they got hit (roll a natural 1 on that save!).

    Source for 2nd Edition Spells

This may be too tall an order, especially since I think these spells came from a Dragon Magazine. I am wondering if anyone knows what book the following 2nd Edition Priest (Cleric/Druid) spells came from? (If Dragon Magazine, if you know the issue #, that would be great) Watery Fist Rockburst...

    Disdain for new fantasy

I agree with this 100%. I really wish WotC would have made the anime stuff a separate supplement instead of core for 4th edition. Fighters shooting lightning lightning bolts out of their swords, etc. is just not for me. By making this stuff core (which is very obviously the way they are...

Warforged: Like them or loathe them?

the poll needs an option for including Warforged in the Eberron Campaign Setting only. As for core, they have absolutely no place there - leave them in Eberron where they belong. Eric

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Thanks for the info. Yes - I searched high and low in the dragon magazines - there was information on alot of deities in there, and helped fill up my binder 'o gods ;) I am not real interested in the Living Greyhawk stuff though, as it is over 20 years removed from the Gygax era at TSR, and...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Gary, I have a Greyhawk question. I am referring to the Greyhawk Campaign Setting Boxed Set that was released in '83... On pages 63 and 64 of Guide to Greyhawk book there is a listing of deities for this setting. Throughout the years I have been gathering all info I could find on Greyhawk...

When did you start using Greyhawk?

1980 for me. As far as continued support for Greyhawk - I do not care either way. I still use the original 1st edition material written by Gygax. I like the way the material was presented - as a basic frame to work from, allowing you to fill in the blanks, and no additional official material...
