D&D Beyond Releases New Free D&D Adventure Featuring 1980s Cartoon Characters

I won't argue that it's obscure -- but they're pushing it really hard for something obscure. And obviously there was money enough in it for statues and action figures.

D&D Beyond Releases New Free D&D Adventure Featuring 1980s Cartoon Characters

I don't see it among the listed shows

D&D Beyond Releases New Free D&D Adventure Featuring 1980s Cartoon Characters

It's not just the designers, since we're also talking action figures and artwork and appearing in the movie. Someone at WotC is pushing hard to keep these characters out there.

D&D Beyond Releases New Free D&D Adventure Featuring 1980s Cartoon Characters

This adventure further adds to my puzzlement, considering the cartoon. We've recently had the kids in the movie, we've had action figures and statues of them, art of them has been on other D&D releases, there's the comic, and now we have character sheets for them and an adventure based around...

D&D Beyond Releases New Free D&D Adventure Featuring 1980s Cartoon Characters

I dunno, I'd call the entire Jihad/Dark Age thing a reboot, for BattleTech. It wasn't a continuity reset, but it dramatically changed the nature of the setting. It's been mostly brushed aside, now, with the ilKhan stuff, but it's still part of the continuity.

D&D General New Licensed Dungeons & Dragons Journal Sets from Random House

Wow... I just looked them up online. "Clarkson Potter publishes today’s most influential voices in the cooking, drinks, and lifestyle categories. Our award-winning authors, chefs, home cooks, designers, photographers, and illustrators come from a range of experiences and backgrounds, yet all...

I've never heard of that publisher -- Clarkson Potter

RPG Evolution: Dice Gifts for Gamers

This is something that has bugged me, of late... You can buy a set of 7 silicon dice. You can buy a seriously chonky silicon D20. No one seems to sell sets of silicon D6s or single, regular-sized silicon D20s. I'd happily buy both, if it was an option, but if it is, I've not been able to find...

D&D General So, You Like The D&D Cartoon Huh? Pre-order Poseable Figures!

I'm hoping that all the recent attention on the cartoon means they'll re-release it on DVD/Blu-Ray. I bought the original release, but I'll be dipped if I can find it now. I strongly suspect I lent it to someone and never got it back.

D&D General So, You Like The D&D Cartoon Huh? Pre-order Poseable Figures!

I think we're going to be seeing something more, related to the D&D cartoon. They put them on the cover of the Stormwreck Isle set, they're doing figures of them -- AND the kids are in the new D&D movie.

D&D General So, You Like The D&D Cartoon Huh? Pre-order Poseable Figures!

Thank you for pointing that out. I didn't notice that at all. I am indeed in the US -- Florida -- and the price is $25 USD.

D&D General So, You Like The D&D Cartoon Huh? Pre-order Poseable Figures!

Hmm. I want that Sheila figure, but I'm not sure I want it for $35. My Joy Toy Ultramarine figure was a similar price, and it looks orders of magnitude better than this one does.

    Worlds of Design: Spelljammer 2.0

As I've said before, I've long been a fan of Spelljammer, since the 2E set came out... But I've always felt that one of the failings of Spelljammer was that there didn't seem to be much consideration for the impact of spelljamming on groundling nations. You'd be able to create accurate...

As am I. I never said I was upset on someone else's behalf.

    Worlds of Design: Spelljammer 2.0

True, TSR quality was sometimes spotty -- but I still think that even the most questionable TSR product is still comparable with some of the best WotC 5E material. And I know that the original SJ stuff is available for download. I've already got most of it in pdf, and all of it in print. That...

    Worlds of Design: Spelljammer 2.0

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the merit in the approach of "hey, here's the most basic framework, now go look elsewhere for third-party, unofficial content of sometimes questionable quality."

    Worlds of Design: Spelljammer 2.0

The fact that those companies are as successful as they are proves the demographic exists. Just because WotC has chosen not to cater to it (which, by sheer coincidence, I'm sure, means less work for them), doesn't mean the demographic isn't there. This thing of barebones support (if that much)...

    Worlds of Design: Spelljammer 2.0

I wasn't speaking of being about to run two same setting campaigns in a row. I was speaking of being able to run a single campaign OTHER than the one that WotC decided I'm going to run. In regards to Spelljammer, what if my PCs decide to go in a different direction, before finding out Doomspace...

    Worlds of Design: Spelljammer 2.0

I'm not saying that I believe that, I'm saying I believe that's what WotC believes and is targeting. I've been ignoring all the tropes about "kids today" since I was a kid, and moreso since becoming a parent.

    Worlds of Design: Spelljammer 2.0

I didn't know it was a movie reference until I looked for it -- but still, evil space clowns with ray guns? Even not knowing that was a movie reference, it was still so far out there that it drew attention to itself. As for the target demographic, I'm honestly not sure. It seems to be that they...
