OGL 1.2 survey is now live

I started thinking about the Survey and figured it was spammable. I checked and yes, it is. Although I did not submit a second response to the survey, it can most definitely be spammed with multiple submissions. This makes ANY results suspect at best and no better than a standard internet poll...

    DnD Shorts final video

Yes, and given WotC's history with VTTs, at least WoW is already up and running. After the 4E fiasco, I wonder if they'll ever get a workable VTT running.

OGL 1.2 survey is now live

Having dug into the Foundry API as well as the 3D compatibility I can start to see the real fear of WotC with regards to the VTT space. I figured out that I can easily take all of these 3D model files I've been using for printing and incorporrate them into a VTT campaign. I can't sell them or...

    Legal Discussion of OGL 1.2

Permission to reproduce that text was granted by WotC in perpetuity.

OGL 1.2 survey is now live

There is an OGL 1.0a they can release it under because it cannot be revoked or "deauthorized". Hopefully, that will come out in a presentation before a court with a jury.

OGL 1.2 survey is now live

They released it under the Creative Commons because they know that is the worst possible license for TTRPGs. The mess that will create combined with acceptance that OGL 1.0a is dead when it doesn't have to be guarantees most of the competition will be ruined for a decade.

    Legal Discussion of OGL 1.2

I've been using HTTrack to mirror as many SRDs as possible.

OGL 1.2 survey is now live

If you look, profits were about 25% of that, which tells you precisely where they got that 25% royalty thing from in the original Not-Draft OGL. Corporations don't just want more money, they want ALL the money.

OGL 1.2 survey is now live

OH WOW, I heard the same thing about OGL 1.0a in 2008! Man, deja vu and all that! A Throwback and it ain't even Thursday!

OGL 1.2 survey is now live

I rated High Understanding and Low Satisfaction on everything and tied everything to OGL 1.0a in comments.

WotC To Give Core D&D Mechanics To Community Via Creative Commons

I think they would be better off than getting mixed up in the mess that is the Creative Commons. CC was never designed for use with TTRPGs and as such should not be used, IMO. Great for documentation about open source software and some other uses, but lousy for this sort of content in my humble...

WotC To Give Core D&D Mechanics To Community Via Creative Commons

Not to mention the market itself squashes any potential profit motivation which limits the spread of the content. Keep in mind, any group attempting to do this is only doing it to gain notoriety and media spreading the news that it did this.

WotC To Give Core D&D Mechanics To Community Via Creative Commons

I voted high understanding and low satisfaction on everything and mentioned OGL 1.0a in ever text response. Since they will use analytical software to read the results, the more OGL 1.0a is mentioned in responses with low satisfaction and high understanding, the worse the survey will look for...

Why We Should Work With WotC

There could be a class action suit against WotC the moment they deauthorize.

Why We Should Work With WotC

No compromises. OGL 1.0a is FOREVER. This goes to court.

WotC To Give Core D&D Mechanics To Community Via Creative Commons

SRD 5.1 will not end up under the Creative Commons in total. Only part of it will, and likely that will be very small, though we do not yet know the extent of it.

WotC To Give Core D&D Mechanics To Community Via Creative Commons

I don't see how it is possible for Kobold Press to do that under what is proposed. To get everything in the 5E rules, they must agree to the new OGL.

"Wizards may declare the entire license void" That's all you need to know bout that.

Except they make it revocable in Section 9 (b).
