On Wizards website they identify the new 3 core books as "2024 Edition". Why not put that on the darn book? Then we would not have pages of posts arguing back and forth what to call it.

I stopped buying Wizards product last year and I had already made the decision I wasn't going in on D&D 2024. This just affirms again I made the right decision. I've moved on to other games and systems. If I run another 5e campaign I will stick with 2014. If the IP ever goes to another caretaker...

I started playing D&D with Holmes Basic in 1977. My first non D&D game was the original Gamma World. I actually ran a game of that before I became a DM for D&D.

Yeah looks like the seller got ahold of another copy. They changed the original to a $250 buy out it looks like (that one's pictures did not include the $10 off postcard and GenCon sticker.) So I guess you can put that sticker on the book yourself if you want.

That is correct. No special GenCon/early release anything...

Someone has put the new PHB on eBay for bidding (currently at $102.50) and it doesn't have anything on the front or back cover to indicate anything special about it. Looks like the normal book FWIW.

Why? Isn't it just a normal book, or will it have some special GenCon stamping or something?

Indeed, I have no reason for pre-ordering. The digital dice and whatnot have absolutely no value to me.

Just a couple days ago I saw an excerpt from a video interview of a woman who, as a 12 yr old girl, had an extended conversation with Gary Gygax at a convention. She only had good things to say about their meeting and that he encouraged her to become a Dungeon Master. That woman is Kelsey...

It would be nice if they did do more new and original things in addition to them redoing classic adventures every edition.

I feel the same way. Can't say I like the artwork on both books. This one even less so.

Looks more detailed, that's good. I'm still not fond of the cover. I think they could have done better.

I can't say I like it. For the 50th anniversary I guess I expected more of a glorious, knock out cover. This isn't it. Looks fuzzy like there's not enough detail.

WizKids is releasing a miniature that will finally reveal the face of the blue cloaked Warrior...

I wasn't planning on buying any of these minis but If I did I would get the Holmes Blue Book Dragon as this was my first D&D exposure and purchase.
