    [OT] Star Wars EpII out....

I think INCONCEIVABLE is a much better term ;-) and BTW, it was announced a LONG time ago that RA Salvatore was the authour of Ep II Duncan

    Same class party

A friend and I wrote a couple of convention modules where the party sort of all cleric. This was 2nd ed, and we used dual classing rules to add in a couple of extra classes - ie, one had been a fighter and then became a cleric. The highest level in the party was 8, so it was ok to do a few...

    D20 Games without AoO.

If one cuts Aoo out of D&D then there are quite a lot of feats that become redundant:

    (OT) Mouseferatu isn't dead yet!!

Definately time to invest in some voice recognition software. You should be able to claim it as a work expense on your taxes, or from your medical insurance company if you have one. Buy the best you can. Duncan

[meta] What part of the world do you live in?

I ticked 'other' because I'm not sure where I'm living at the moment. I'm from Australia, currently in Germany. I'm moving to other parts of Europe soon. While I'm here I'm hoping to find work, and if that happens I'll be living where the work is. I've rented out my house in Australia, so...

How much do PCs know about monsters?

I've thiought about this a lot, but still haven't come up with a satisfactory answer for myself. I think it's quite unfortunate that in 3rd Ed the monsters are no longer listed with a frequency, because that makes rules about this much harder. I think you need to consider monsters in different...

[Storyhour] Roy and H.G. do RttToEE, pt 3

Re: Re: Re: [Storyhour] Roy and H.G. do RttToEE Wow - so many Canberrans :-) - I probably know you too. The games days gather at 9:30 to start at 10am. You can join the "CanberraGamesDays" group at www.yahoogroups.com or email yasuhei@hotmail.com for information about Living Greyhawk at the...

    When did "Medireview" = Medieval???

News reports I've seen: "The swimmer literally flew down the pool" "The camera literally captures the number off the license plate"

    Living Greyhawk Journals...

Lucky Harlequin Hi, I contacted Harlequin a couple of days ago. I live in Australia, but I'm moving overseas next week. I am in the process of packing most of my stuff into boxes. I have the LGJ 0, 2, 3 & 4 (can't find my #1), and since I've stopped playing LG for now at least (I'm not...

    When did "Medireview" = Medieval???

Well, I read the post on the link, and then was very surprised when I saw the name of the Author. I know Kirrily "Skud" Robert. I've been to a party at her house and everything. It's a small world :-)

[OT] Slow and steady wins Olympic Gold!

If they let less than five people into the final, then all but one person gets a medal - that seems a little lame, doesn't it? It looked to me during the races I saw that one objective of the race is to "accidently" bump your opponent out - not hard to do on ice.

Ideas for the use of True Strike?

True strike will always miss on a roll of one.

Things I miss from 2nd edition

But if you take HPs as an abstract system, then there is just various luck factors meaning that the character didn't get hurt much by it. Ie, they fell through a tree, etc. OTOH, check out the Star Wars D20 rules for Wound Points - pg 139 "When your wound points drop to 0, you're unconscious...

    UAiSL annoy me!

Perhaps, but it doesn't take much effort to type out, just the once, for the heading. Another example - MotW - does it stand for "Masters of the Wild" or "Monster of the Week" (Moster of the Week is a column on the WotC website, and have sometimes been referenced here as worth viewing, full of...

    An odd idea...

this seems oddly familiar If you build a system with more skills points, and where players purchase skills in combat, and different classes have different costs for each skill... We could call it "Rolemaster"! :-)

    An odd idea...

I'm confused - first you say that each type of skill would have different costs dependant on class, and then suggest the system would become classless - that seems counter-intuitive to me :-)

    UAiSL annoy me!

UAiSL - Unexplained Abbreviations in Subject Lines annoy me. Lately this has been happening more often than it used to, it seems to me. For instance, the other day (maybe last week) I saw a topic that mentioned BoEMII being out. I couldn't recall what BoEMII was, and read the thread. But in...

Things I miss from 2nd edition

How? To have 300 Hps at 15th level is to have earned 20 HPs a level. So, Bards get D6 HPs - 6 a level leaves 14 a level from Con. To gain 14 bonus HPs a level from Con requires a Con of 38. If PCs in your game have a constitution of 38 without magic you have bigger problems than HPs! Duncan

    On the importance of Counterspelling

But if you have a variety of spells worth counterspelling, which are likely to be damage spells, you can cast those at the enemies if there is nothing to counter. I would go for a wizard rather than a sorceror, I think. You get a much larger variety of spells that you can know as a wizard, as...
