    As I recall plants aren't immune to ability damage and ability drain. Plants are still way cool; Volodni are one of my favorite ECL races. Being a construct is the way to go, IMO. Maug (Fiend Folio) can make a great PC in a medium to high level game, though I find it difficult to really min/max...

    Using Poison Evil?

    Anesthetics (or any paralytic agent) are technically poisons. Using knock-out darts in many situations (like taking out guards) is arguably more "good" than hitting them with a rogue's sneak attack or a silent fireball.

    Epic makes a difference Once you hit Epic, being able to Quicken your spells without expending higher level slots becomes, to put it mildly, the cat's meow, especially for sorcerors.
