    D&D 5E Maybe D&D Should Branch?

This assumes the stockholders actually see a breakdown of numbers by department- I doubt they do.

    D&D 5E Maybe D&D Should Branch?

I'm not really sure that's it... That's kind of the point of Open Source, which is what the OGL was based on. The idea being the users end up deciding which is "best" based on features, and not because it's just the only thing available. For my part, I bought the core 3e books, and a couple...

    D&D 5E Maybe D&D Should Branch?

Let's make a Poll about it on enworld. It wouldn't actually answer the question, but at least we could then argue over whether or not the poll was created properly.

    D&D 5E Maybe D&D Should Branch?

Well yeah. To quote Walter White... "Name one thing in this world that isn't negotiable..." :P Whether or not the amount would have made any kind of profitable business sense... That's another question.:P

    Drop Down Forum Selector Thingy?

I remember that was the case way back when 4e was announced and the site took a massive traffic hit... I thought maybe the announcement of the playtest caused it this time... But it's been a while now- is traffic still going nuts?

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

I see what you're saying... But is it "fair" to change reality in order to do away with the problem of reality busting meta-gaming? That kind of reminds me of the joke: DR it hurts when I go like this- So don't go like this! whaka whaka whaka!

Isn't that just "accepting" metagaming, as opposed to doing away with it?

    Scratch Ticket Stats Revisited

I wouldn't have an issue with it... I could see some people having fun with it, but I probably wouldn't use it. My attitude is cheaters gonna cheat no matter what... It's just a game so whatever.

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

If you were to use any of the numerous conventions I attended throughout the 90s as any kind of evidence, it might lean towards 2e being more popular at the time... Most of the pages were filled with 2e games, with only a few token 1e games. Most of the hobby store games (in my area at least)...

EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT! TSR set to start publishing a monthly periodical entitled "The Dragon" that aims to support its hobby game "Dungeons and Dragons."

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

Never argued otherwise? This is not an argument that I made. Again I think you're ascribing intentions never stated. D&D is a group experience. Sometimes in order to please the group as a whole one person has to suck it up and deal with it. You can't please all of the people all of the...

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

And for the most part they aren't very important. While for the most part I agree with you, you can't do that for every single thing in the game that eventually will bug someone. I disagree that it's possible. (Especially when it's things like the aforementioned Katana that are just based on...

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

I've found that's pretty much the ONLY way to actually play the game. Sooner or later someone sees something that they disagree with (and surprise surprise it's almost always something related to why their character is about to be eaten by something). Also factor in that a lot of people base...

    Magic item ideas

Scribble's Codpiece of Humor This codpiece grants the wearer training in the performance skill (although his or her jokes will always be followed by a loud phantasmal groan). But really to add something substantial to the thread: As I mentioned before I'm not really AGAINST +x weapons...

    D&D 5E You can't necessarily go back

Poor D&D... I think 2e sort of tried to be everything for everybody. Don't like x? Try Y it's in Dragon issue blah blah blah, or source book Blah! We could argue about what was the best, but TSR basically tried to release everything. :P It was kind of a jumbled mess though... So along comes...

    Magic Items...

Yeah I understand the idea... Just don't like the end result. Why? If the DM is building the items why would it be munchkinland? (Unless everyone in the group wants it to be that way in which case more power to em...)

    Magic Items...

Who's withholding information though? The template items are the ones I find boring. I don't mind the idea of "icy burst dagger" I just hate the idea of an icy burst template.

    The Tragedy of Flat Math

What they said from the start was that as you advance monsters are still effective, but you need larger groups to make them a threat. So you go from fighting one Kobold to a horde of Kobolds.
