Let's discuss what our preferred unit of measurement is when it comes to distance at the TTRPG table. It seems a lot of TTRPGs use Feet or Meters (perhaps for good reason). But, what unit of measurement would you prefer? It might be harder if you never used a particular measurement before, or...

Crap, I confused Meters and Yards. I thought a Meter was 3 feet and a Yard was 3.x feet in length. It turns out it was swapped! :eek:

Why is Fantasy setting Imperial system and Modern/SciFi setting Metric system? A quick google search seems to show me that Metric is older than Imperial. 1795 vs 1824.

A bit Academic mixed with Mechanical. I was just thinking of the difference in reach for example from a Dagger, to a Longsword, to a Greatsword for example. I would say on average the tip of a peck to the end of a knife is about 1 meter. A Longsword wouldn't quite give you a 2 meter reach...

All versions of D&D (or almost all), Pathfinder, a little bit of Starfinder, Conan Adventures in an Age Undreamed Of (a 2d20 system that uses close, moderate, far as a measurement system), DemonWars Reformation, and some video games like that are "like" TTRPGs, such as X-Com, Black Guard, though...

I apologize. Your initial answer didn't give me enough context to let me know if that were a yes or no, so I decided to give more context. That's it! I'm making a game where measurements are in cubits (~18 inches) and weight is in stones (~14.4 pounds)!

To make it easier, picture D&D or Pathfinder (any editions really) that use Meters instead of Feet. Would you still play them with that change? You can move 10 meters, aka 10 squares. You fall 4 meters and take 1d6 damage. etc

Let's say a new TTRPG came out, and for its measurement of moving, ability/spell distance, falling, etc, they used Meters instead of Feet. Would you be fine with that, and would you play it? Example: You move 10 meters (1 step is 3 feet aka 1 meter). From pec to the tip of a dagger is 3 feet...
