[WOTC] Core Rulebooks to be revised?

Wow. Just the other day I was thinking, "wouldn't it be nice if the core 3e books were as refined and clear as CoC or d20 modern?" *blue fairy waves wand* *BLING* Your wish is my command. I'm with most of you, though- I hope the changes aren't too drastic. But lets face it- there are skills...

    Miniatures and Maps

At last! ANOTHER lego person! Used Lego mini-figs for years. I will always think of my favorite character with that yellow face. ------->:)

How many of your D20 Books do you actaully use?

Speaking as a beginner DM, all I've used to this point are the core books and the module we're going through. I have all the splats, but they haven't seen much use except from one player who's working toward the Spellsword prc. Still early in the campaign though. I got the FRCS on an impulse...

throw spear on a surprise round/readied action?

Ok, I'll buy that you don't have time to throw a spear during a surprise round. However, don't you think you could be allowed to ready an action with a throw? Or if you do gain surprise, could you use your surprise partial action to ready? Say I'm a goblin with a javelin. The pcs on the other...

throw spear on a surprise round/readied action?

Tossing a spear is a full-round action. Surprise rounds and readied actions are partial. However, my common sense seems to tell me you could throw a spear fast enough if you catch someone by surprise, and if you readied an action to throw a spear at the first thing to walk through the door, why...

    More reasons to love Monte

uhh... I thought I posted to this thread yesterday. Was it removed? Too inflammatory? Well to reiterate in a nicer way, I have concerns about this book. If everyone and their sister is going to buy/use it, what happens to guys like me who basically rely on published adventures? Will we see any...

    Rpg's and miniatures

BTW, for those who don't want to be bothered with minis OR counters might want to try this: Buy a package of plastic page protectors. Slip a few sheets of graph paper in them. Get a package of fine or medium-point dry-erase markers of various colors. Give each PC a different color. Instant...

    Rpg's and miniatures

Don't knock the legos. We used'em for years! I still have a shoebox of lego castle minifigs and accessories- as well as extra stuff I bought at sites like Bricklink. The Harry Potter sets have some nice rat and owl familiars.:) I'm too embarrassed to spring the lego on my new gaming group, so...

(SPOILER WARNING) The Extended Version of Fellowship of the Ring

The audio commentary with the actors was hilarious. WELL worth listening to. Billy Boyd at the end of the credits: "I'd like to thank the DVD guys for letting us do this, but was it really neccessary for us to be naked? I'm getting a bit cold."

(SPOILER WARNING) The Extended Version of Fellowship of the Ring

I agree that the extended version seems a bit slow. But I agree that there were a few things that I was surprised that they cut : Gimli's line about how the doors to Moria are invisible when closed and Gandalf explaining that "even the lords of moria can forget about their secret entrances"...

[ot] Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings extended edition

Personally, I think the extended version plodded a bit. All the character juicy bits were greatly appreciated, but there was an added scene or diologue here and there that prolly could have remained on the cutting room floor. At the same time, there were a few lines or scenes that made me think...

    The Ring

Azure Trance found the video itelf at the other thread: http://lightsout.bla-bla.com/random/comic_con2002/the_ring.mov Hoping my phone wouldn't ring after watching it. ;)

    The Ring

Uh, yup. I jumped at that, and I said the 'f' word quite audibly. And I love seeing fliks like these with large crowds. Its a blast. That damn screechy sound during the video...I couldn't get that sound outta my head...made for uneasy sleeping. Yeah, I hear the original version is even...

Dwarven Women: Beards or no Beards?

I propose that we have dwarf female without beards, and elf females WITH beards. I think Mialee would look great with the ZZ Top look.

    The Ring

I just saw it tonight too. Great movie. Scary as HELL. I heard it was supposed to be one of those "creeping dread" horror films (which I prefer) instead of the "leap out of your seat" variety, which put me in a false sense of security. Needless to say, I ended up jumping several times anyway...

Dwarven Women: Beards or no Beards?

It may not be stated in 3e that dwarf females are beardless, but it is implied in the artwork and the lack of statements to the contrary. Matter of preference, really. I find the idea of bearded dwarf females repulsive. None in my game, thanks. And I don't care what Gary thinks.

[OT] What is the best selling beer in your country?

Coors Lite has been my liquid bread of choice lately, as well as Sam Adams Lite. Plus, I will drink any stout on the planet. Also had a Skullsplitter once, and a Merlin Ale....both the bottles say "product of Scotland." Question: While reading this thread, how many of you have run to the...

If there was one thing about 3rdE that you could change, what would it be?

Ok. My take. For the most part, I would just want some rules clarifications. There are easier ways to explain the attack actions/partial actions/full actions junk, and AoOs were explained beautifully in the revised Star Wars and CoC D20 books. The writing in the D&D 3e core books is unrefined...
