Chaosium Names New CEO, Mike Mearls Departs Company

I am beginning to think that despite all this great art, I should proceed directly to Dukk Borg.

Looking at that glorious legionnaire duck, I would say I'm having the opposite reaction.

It's deceptive! If Tom Wham had anything to do with it, it was great!

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – World's Largest Dungeon, Cosmic Dark, Neon City Outlaws, and more

There's just never going to be enough time to watch every movie, read every book, and play every game. It's probably healthy that you are realistic about your expectations, if anything! That said, I like to read RPGs I might never play for the lore or the mechanics, just to see it. As a...

RPG Evolution: If It Kills, We Can Build It

You might not even need a special skill. Just walk behind the previous, ill-fated folks and waltz into the now exposed/triggered/harmless traps and avoid the now obvious spikes and ignore the now triggered dart throwers, taking everything the corpses have on them. I guess that's how trap reset...

RPG Evolution: If It Kills, We Can Build It

Delicious in Dungeon has those cool ecology sections, but it is ALSO an example of "a Wizard did it" as dungeons in the setting are an actual magical effect that can be created and maintained (I think they also imply that they can be naturally occurring).

    D&D General 1s and 20s: D&D's Narrative Mechanics

I've tried to be good about coming up with terrible things to happen on 1s but I can't always think of clever things. I definitely do the "critical success on a 20" with skill checks that a few people find anathema.

Definitely where I first saw a lot of both of their artwork.

Nice Chris Foss cover* *pretty sure it's Chris Foss... EDIT: It's actually Angus McKie. I knew I'd seen that weird swan-necked ship in a lot of books that also had Chris Foss stuff, but it's not his.

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – OSRIC 3, Cloud Empress, ShadowWest, and more

My understanding is that it's kind of a retroclone of TMNT, but I haven't picked it up yet, so that's all the help I can give.

Daggerheart Releases Two New Classes for Playtest

I would say that "fighter" has a very strong imprint in my mental RPG lexicon that I probably wouldn't associate it with what they are associating it with. Maybe it's a me problem, but I assume it's a common one. Hardly the end of the world, of course.

Oooh, even if I don't play it ever, I want this. I loved the lore for Starfinder.

How do you handle gems as a GM?

I'm still learning this DM thing, but unless anyone tries to appraise, I just tell them what sort of gem it is. I assume the values given are always the prices they'd get from a fair dealer (indicating the gems are worth more, but unless they want to set themselves up as their own...

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – OSRIC 3, Cloud Empress, ShadowWest, and more

The Mutants in the... series really intrigues me, but as I recall, we only ever rolled up characters for the Palladium games and never played them. Not that that necessarily means we didn't have fun with the books.
