    D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Karkaddan

So... just a slightly stronger desert unicorn with some extra niche abilities which will probably never come into play? I think we a have a case of "Monster X: just like Monster Y, but stronger/weaker", which is, next to "Monster X: just like Monster Y, but evil/good" and "Monster X: just like...

    D&D 5E Excalibur! DnD!

Sorry for the offtop, just a quick question: will you consider allowing backers of a sufficiently higher tier to submit their own creatures or artefacts? There are still tons of mythical heroes, monsters, and weapons not covered by your write-ups, especially from the more obscure mythologies.

Do your players ever suffer real defeat?

I've TPKed my players' characters 2 times in the last 6 months. Not that I'm a killer DM, quite the opposite. So bad stuff happens, and one should get along with it.

    3E Elven adventure sought

Try "Mellorn Hospitality", Dungeon #107 (Feb 2004). IIRC, it's for level 10 (might need some adjustments) and features an elven settlement and some fiendish opposition.

Core Religion Survivor - Round Thirteen

Personally, I'm amazed that everybody seems to love Wee Jas, one of the most bland deities in the multiverse. To hell with her!

    Is Originality important ?

Well, my players typically don't demand anything original from me (in fact, they clamor for a good ol' cliché), but their cries are lost on me  . Nothing ordinary. Weirdness, rare monsters and unorthodox villains rule the day in my games. It's not everyone's bag of tea, though.

Starting New FR Campaign, Need Advice

Yeah, the setting itself is quite important, although the campaign should work quite well without the associated 'Realmslore'. One thing I love FR for is its generic nature coupled with a solid treatment of existing archetypes and a huge diversity of locales. I try to avoid the 'iconic' (in a...

Starting New FR Campaign, Need Advice

I'm starting a new campaign set in the Realms later this (or next week), and I'm looking for some advice or adventure ideas. The rough outline of the campaign is as follows (my players either don't read English or don't visit these boards, so no spoilers for them here :D): It revolves around...

Speaking in "faux old English" [Poll]

If only you knew what a similarly-sounding word means in Russian... :D  :o

Speaking in "faux old English" [Poll]

As I'm a Russian playing in Russian, I should have voted "other", but I've voted "frequently". That's because I often use words, expressions and entire phrases borrowed from Old Church Slavic, which is a stylistic equivalent of Ye Aulde Englishe.

What Are You Reading? (March 2005)

As usual, I read three or four books at once... Namely: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne (these are for the Foreign Literature course at the Moscow State University) The Castle of Iron by L Sprague de Camp The Gates of Noon by Michael Scott Rohan...

    Greatest Sentence of All Time?

Read Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace. Insane phrases like this can be found on every page of this monstruous novel. However, English translators could have simplified the syntax, which isn't necessarily a bad thing...

    Cleric/Rogue PrC

It might have been asked a million times before, but does anybody know a decent PrC for cleric/rogues? I know about the Temple Raider of Olidamarra, but I'd like a class that allows the character to keep the best of both worlds (like the Eldritch Knight or Arcane Trickster, for instance).

    J. Gregory Keyes, Newton's Cannon

If everybody is so positive about Newton's Cannon, then it might be a worthy read. I'll definitely check it out in the near future.

    J. Gregory Keyes, Newton's Cannon

Would you recommend this book? My elder brother is reading that one at the moment and looks extremely disgusted with it, but the plot outline looks somewhat promising.
