    How To Do a Mob

How many individuals are in the mob? Take that number, equate it to a die roll. The result on that die roll is how many attacks the mob makes on its turn. Aside from that, just alter the number of hit dice to reflect how many people there are. For example, there's a mob of 20 people. At start of...

Yeah, I noticed the embedded links, but they kept opening to pages with just the title and nothing else. It was rather odd.

Making Dancing Lights, Friends and Light a More Attractive Choice

I personally don't believe Light needs anything special. It technically does that already, when a DM is a bit creative. But aside from that, it's free light. Forever. Without a gold cost. You just stick it on somebody's weapon, have them make an Intimidation Check, and everybody believes he's...

Theorycraft: Creating a low-magic setting through Prestige Classes

Tony's got the right idea; something like this would indeed be quite the undertaking, requiring not just the reworking of class features, archetypes, and abilities, but even of encounters and certain monsters. Not to mention, such a world would be completely dominated by Liches, Dragons, and...

    Fighter Archetype - Duelist

I'm facing the same problem with this that I see a lot with archetypes: When writing homebrew for 5e, you want it to be as streamlined, concise, and straightforward as possible. Not only that, but this gets way too much as an archetype. If you added in a few more features, this could make its...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

Basically, when in doubt, use the precedents. Do you want them to feel more like a caster with a sword? Look at the Pact Of The Blade for the Warlock for inspiration. If you want them to feel more like someone that blends their swordplay with interwoven magic, look at the Eldritch Knight. But...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

Take one class ability that's core to the class, water it down slightly, and construct an archetype that makes it better slowly over time. Then make an archetype that feels completely different from the base class, like takes it in a completely different way. Then make a third archetype that is...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

Try pulling one or two abilities from the base class and moving them into the subclasses, then just expanding upon one of the abilities already present in the class features. See if that works.

    5e Magus Class Conversion

The thing about 5e is that you can't always explain why something is or is not balanced; you have to get a feel for it. There's no procedure to creating stuff, just rules of thumb. For instance, a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself "Does this homebrew do something that something else already...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

http://www.enworld.org/forum/content.php?2956-Now-You-Can-Play-With-Vin-Diesel-s-WITCH-HUNTER-Class!#.VibDpxHBzGf Go and read this. It is, by far, the most balanced, interesting, and innovative homebrew I've ever seen. It might give you a better frame of reference.

    5e Magus Class Conversion

Spell resistance should be limited to tier 3 or higher at the minimum. Paladins get it sooner because they don't really have all that much else going for them. This class functions just fine without its archetypes. That's something you need to register. Does the class fair well as-is without its...

    G'emet (D&D next/5.0 Custom Race)

I developed a homebrew of the Warforged a long while ago. Perhaps, it'll help you with your design. http://community.wizards.com/content/blog/4232576 Mental immunities tend to be powerful. Gnomes get resistances to mental magics, but that and a few ability score increases are the pretty much all...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

It just doesn't sit well with me. It's likely because the base class gets so much already.

    5e Magus Class Conversion

The problem with being so nondescript on the abilities is that certain magical abilities don't use spell slots and aren't cast by a spell caster. Dispel Magic dismisses or represses magical effects, not only spells. My idea of the dispelling ability is literally casting the Dispel Magic Spell as...

    5e Magus Class Conversion

The version I recommended allows the dispelling of a spell at the cost of a second level spell slot. That's a whole spell level lower than the Dispel Magic spell. That's why it's a higher level ability. And the spell reflection would be fine if it required at least the use of a 3rd level slot.

    5e Magus Class Conversion

That looks better, but I strongly disagree with the archetypes. I'll start with the Spellbreaker archetype: Awarding the entirety of a feat as a class feature is way too strong. Only some abilities warrant that level of strength and they're the archetype's entire build. The Dispelling Strike...

    G'emet (D&D next/5.0 Custom Race)

Even though their racial features aren't impressive, they should not get two +2s. Most races don't. Also, they're already pretty strong, considering they're damn near immune to charming spells. Don't give them /short rest and /long rest abilities on top of that. Letting a race become literally...

    Rebalancing Feats - input appreciated

As far as I can tell, none of the feats are unbalanced or too strong or too weak, they just help in different ways. The only feat that I'd say is actually too weak is Grappler, since it's basically useless. The others are designed this way for a reason. If they were truly a problem, they'd have...

    Rebalancing Feats - input appreciated

Firstly, I have a problem that you altered Crossbow Expert. Even the Sage Advice said that it was supposed to work with any ranged attack roll, even spells. Second, Great Weapon Master and Sharpshooter are meant to feel strong. It's a high-risk/high-reward mechanic for a reason. Even with...
