    R. Thompson : D&D still a sim/gamist RPG

I'll have to jump in and disagree with your last point. There is absolutely nothing in this rule set that hinders a narrativist playstyle. In fact, I find that it lends itself quite well to both the DM and players developing an interesting narrative.

Your choices are Kill, or ... Kill

There just might be something in the rule set that covers NOT killing someone......

You rock Dave, great work! I, as a player and a judge, had a blast!

Poll - For those who Played - How was it?

I give it a 5 as a player. I played 4 rounds of the delve and had a blast (none of my judges were Mike Mearles or Andy Collins either ;) ) I also ran 4 rounds of LFR (2 Escape from Sembia and 2 Scalegloom Hall). Neither was designed as an RP love-fest as Dave (wavester) so aptly described...

    The Unstoppable Black Dragon

I ran two tables that faced the fabled black dragon and had a 50% success rate. One table used poor tactics and EVERYONE sucked up a breath weapon...there wasn't good teamwork...tpk. One table spread out, used some tactics, had a few good rolls and won. It's hard, but not impossible...

Living Forgotten Realms: So what's the East Rift?

What's the East Rift? Well, I'm glad you asked! FWIW, you guys are on it. It's what's left of the Great Rift after the Spellplague. From Countdown to the Realms: In many places, the Spellplague wrought drastic changes to the very shape of the world. The vast Underdark system beneath the...

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

Rogue "You look surprised to see me. If you’d been paying attention, you might still be alive." CLASS TRAITS Role: Striker. You dart in to attack, do massive damage, and then retreat to safety. You do best when teamed with a defender to flank enemies. Power Source: Martial. Your...

D&D 4E Going/Not Going to 4E which edition did you start with?

I started with AD&D in 1982 at the ripe age of 9, skipped 2E, jumped back in at 3.5 and I'm switching to 4E.

    WoW is becoming DDM

For all the 10 million players....I just can't see this being a hit. And yes, as was previously stated, the irony is delicious.

What was so bad about DMing 3x?

Ouch. I don't know if you meant it to, but that came off kinda snarky. I have to agree with the folks who find the NPC/encounter building system unfriendly. I write/edit adventures for Living Greyhawk which means I don't have the luxury of omiting rules to simplify things (which is what I do...

So who's going to D&D Experience?

I'll be there, DMing for the most part. I look forward to meeting some fellow ENWorlders.

    D&D 4E Mouseferatu weighs in on 4e

(bold emphasis mine) What have you read that makes you think this? It seems, to me, to be contrary to what Jon said in his post. As another guy with a job, kids, wife, etc. I like having pre-gen stuff to work with. I might not use all of it, but if it's there I can plug it in or take what...
