One Thousand Ways to Freak Out Your Players

    300) Eat all the pizza. 301) Begin each session by reading the Players vs Characters section out of the old Basic set. Be stern and allow no interuptions. 302) Eat all the chips. 303) Switch any off topic conversation onto Tom Hanks excellent performance in that Mazes and Monsters movie...

Writing New Adventure: How to keep things from becoming too "Hack n' Slash"?

Try setting the players against a villian that clearly out matches them when it comes to toe to toe combat. Place clues and plot threads though that can point to a weakness or some way to defeat it. Example: to slay a certain monster that has been terrorizing the village the PCs might realize...

I guess she was only the SECOND-to-last unicorn...

Just one question, will America be doing the soundtrack again?;) The animation was excellent in its style and feel, there are few fantasy films out that match it.

    Losing the Faith

How much experience do we get? Man, why does that sound so familiar. Why is fast advancement so important to some people. Are the encounters going to become that much easier once those extra HP are gained. Doesn't it occur to them that their opponents will also get better? Oh well, we play again...

    Appleseed Book5

Does anyone know if Shirow ever completed Book 5? There was also rumor of him working on a sequel to GITS. I have both the Appleseed Databook and a Japanese copy of the Apple Note book, aka: Extron Depot. Did this ever come out in English? Thanks beforehand.:)

    Losing the Faith

Part of the problem is that these are some of my best friends and they seem to enjoy the hack and slash immensly, I'd hate to turn the group on its side just for me to have more fun. The wierd thing is we play SR with the same people and it turns out much better on the RP side of things. Killing...

Asking myself "Why?" about gaming lately...

Same problem as with dr.midnight here, the game we play doesn't seem to meet what I'm looking for in the role playing experience. While communication would be good, there is a fine line between voicing preferences for play and sounding like you're whining. Especially when the other players seem...

    Losing the Faith

Played D&D last night, and I'm thinking about giving up on it. The group I play in just seem to be content with "slay the monsters search thew bodies, next room!" I feel bad for the DM because I think he has such high hopes for creativity but is let down every time. (If you're reading this, you...

    The aggravating five foot move.

The five foot move where it aggravates me the most is how someone can step easily out of combat with no ability of his/her opponent doing anything to prevent their action. Example step back shoot bow, drink potion, cast spell, etc. What ever happened to the old 2ed Combat and Tactics where...

    The aggravating five foot move.

There is one rule that is used to soooooo often fly in the face that it aggravates me to no end, both as a GM and a player. It is this "five foot step" rule that can be made by any character free of charge or responsibility. It leads to the invincible archer/crossbowman technique in close...
