    Level Up (A5E) Deadlier combat

Thank you! Yes, I’m all for simpler ways of doing it and that really helps.

    Level Up (A5E) Deadlier combat

I think my big issue with 0 hp = unconscious and death saves is that most characters die slowly in a pool of their own blood. I would prefer the option to go out in a Blaze of Glory. Our home brew solution is that you can choose to stay up on 0hp but each round you do so you take a level of...

Level Up (A5E) [+] What features should a "Advanced 5E" have?

I miss the evil of customization of 2e proficiencies. (You can read or swim or ride a horse but not all three, dammit!) So a way of bringing those back into 5e would be great. edit: detail not evil. Grrr predictive text and large thumbs.

Level Up (A5E) What would you *call* an Advanced 5E?

Dammit. Just went to the other thread and you'd already made that gag. Sigh.

Strange Aliens and Fantastic Planets Abound in M-SPACE and the M-S Companion

How close to the 7e Call of Cthulhu version of BRP is this? Took me a while to get my head around but am liking it a lot now and would be very up for a sci-fi game using those rules (or close to it).

Mana, Shamans, and the Cultural Misappropriation behind Fantasy Terms

Thank you for this - I’d never considered the specificity of the term before and will use it with the more care moving forward.

D&D 5E A truly horrifying Age of Worms

Rather than changing the PCs and their spells at all could you instead rule that Greater Restoration was required to counteract the effect you mentioned (since its evidentially a powerful magical effect and not a natural disease.) 5th level spell with 100gp of diamond dust material component...

D&D 5E Free D&D Adventure from Kobold Press

I persevered for a while yesterday and managed to get it. It's a very useful book for quick side quests!

D&D General Best "out of the box" ready to run adventures/modules?

I am wondering a similar thing at the moment (I’m running BG:DiA which is requiring a huge amount of work, although I’m enjoying it) and I’ve got another group of friends wanting to start up - how are the Tales from the Yawning Portal in terms of prep?

DM question: how much do you incorporate PC backgrounds into the campaign?

I haven’t watched much of season 1 but season 2 of CR really feels like Matt Mercer had a loose over-arching plot and then built everything else around the offers the players made him in their (evidently very detailed) backstories. As ever, whatever is fun at someone’s table is great for them...

DM question: how much do you incorporate PC backgrounds into the campaign?

Yup 100% this. Believable or otherwise, if not over-used, players, or at least my players, seem to enjoy these connections.

DM question: how much do you incorporate PC backgrounds into the campaign?

Exactly like you are describing, my favourite part of DMing at the moment is taking a published adventure and the backstories my players come up with and meshing them together till it feels like the adventure was written for them. It doesn't take a lot of work (well, not true, I spend ages...

Thank you - that’s really helpful!

    D&D 5E Psionics

I'd just logged into ask the same thing! There is a bewildering array of options on DMsguild on top of the UA Mystic. Has anyone got both Jason Steele's Psionics Handbook and The Korranberg Chronicle: Psion's Primer and can recommend one over the other?
