Star Trek Adventures: Now that the full rules are out, what do you think?

My percentage chance was based upon a "normal" roll, ie the default of a two-dice roll. True, if you're rolling more dice, the chance of a complication rises slightly, but that math gets fairly complicated, and I'm not inclined to figure it out just for a message board post. However, where the...

Star Trek Adventures: Now that the full rules are out, what do you think?

To paraphrase you from the other thread on this topic, I think you need to re-read the rules. I'm not sure why you keep repeating this demonstrably false statement over and over. But for those who don't own the book and keep seeing this repeated: (1) Rolling a complication DOES NOT result in...

Star Trek Adventures: Now that the full rules are out, what do you think?

Well, I will disagree with you about your dislikes of the advancement system and the fact that the characters are mostly at parity at character creation, regardless of rank or veteran status. Both of those things are interrelated and by design. The game is attempting to mirror characters like...

Release Star Trek Adventures: Core Rulebook Released in PDF!

It was the beta, but those campaigns will continue as living campaigns after release. You can sign up for the living campaign on the Modiphius website.

Release Star Trek Adventures: Core Rulebook Released in PDF!

@JPL, Not officially. It's mostly called "DSC" or "DIS" to correspond with the other three-letter abbreviations: TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT. The default is producing the command staff of a starship, though you can create officers of various ranks and levels of real world experience. The...

Well, if you're interested in a review, this blog has a chapter-by-chapter review of the entire book: https://philgamer.wordpress.com/ If you have questions about either the game or the PDF, I'm happy to answer.

Same here. I haven't been able to do a deep dive with it yet, but I definitely like what I see. There are a lot of great background details that really help with immersive play. For example, I love the planetary and stellar classifications guides. Those are neat (and, in the case of stellar...

Ah. I thought you were saying just the negative reviews had been removed and not all of them. So,either a temporary technical glitch or a reconsideration of the decision, then?

Also, I'm not sure that's what actually happened. There are still plenty of one-star reviews on the site, and the number hasn't gone down since the last time I saw the site. I suppose it's possible they took them down and put them back up again, however. I think the increase in the ratings is...

Star Trek 2d20: Thoughts on the Playtest and Upcoming Releases

Rather than just recreate my other posts, I will just point you in the direction of the "Public Playtest Launches" thread one or two down from this one. There has been quite a bit of discussion there about what people like or don't about the system, including people's responses to Jester...

That Upcoming Star Trek RPG Comes In A Special Borg Cube Boxed Set!

That is my impression as well. The Beta Quadrant book will have, for example, some basic info on the Klingon Empire, new Klingon ships and NPCs, and campaign and adventure ideas involving the Klingons. The Klingon book, in contrast, will have rules for making Klingon PCs, both within Starfleet...

That Upcoming Star Trek RPG Comes In A Special Borg Cube Boxed Set!

Actually, there are even more books in the queue, although the specific publishing timeline isn't clear. Modiphius likes to release their product line plans way in advance. On their Conan RPG page, for example, they have a breakdown of a ton of future products grouped in specific waves. As...

That Upcoming Star Trek RPG Comes In A Special Borg Cube Boxed Set!

Steve Hanson, who's a Modiphius employee who has been fielding questions about the product line, starts discussing it on this page over on their own boards: http://www.modiphius.com/forum.html#/20170607/attention-pre-irder-is-live-5430423/page5/ It gets mentioned a few more times later down...

That Upcoming Star Trek RPG Comes In A Special Borg Cube Boxed Set!

I think that's a profoundly unfair assessment. The only deadline was game release, and as you noted they met that. Yes, they missed some (but definitely not all) of their estimates when playtest material would become available, but that's how it goes with licenses and waiting for approvals...

STA doesn't use a grid at all. It uses "zones" similar to Fate or the FFG Star Wars system. Zones are classified into general distances based upon how close they are to the zone you are in, and movement is delineated accordingly.

STAR TREK ADVENTURES Public Playtest Launches

I guess it's how you perceive Threat, but I think Threat actually does represent in-character knowledge, specifically the in-character knowledge of the overall level of danger the current situation has. For example, when you buy extra dice with Threat, it represents the characters taking risks...

That Upcoming Star Trek RPG Comes In A Special Borg Cube Boxed Set!

Don't know about the box per se, as I didn't ask about that. However, in the email in which they announced the preorder, they talked about two different collectors boxes they were planning. So there may be another box set more in your price range. Or perhaps the box(es) will go up for sale...
