D&D (2024) The Sorcerer 2024 is the strongest class.

I don't see why not. I don't see how quickened would even be a factor. Edit: Reading Innate Sorcery closer (or at least, the D&D Beyond notes on it) changed my mind. It appears to only apply to Sorcery spells, so no. Edit Edit: However, I haven’t seen anything so far that indicates warlock...

Yep. Cast darkness (sorcery points) and then misty step (spell slot, or free use if you've got it) into it would still work.

I disagree. Here's the metamagic text again: "Cost: 2 Sorcery Points | When you cast a spell that has a casting time of an action, you can spend 2 Sorcery Points to change the casting time to a Bonus Action for this casting. You can't modify a spell in this way if you've already cast a level 1+...

It isn't. Check IRolledStealth's post showing the text ( post #26)

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

True, but they did add in the extra clause to the 2024 Quickened Spell description because they were apparently trying to clarify/prevent some shenanigans. So it's still a bit of an open question of how far they went.

D&D (2024) The Sorcerer 2024 is the strongest class.

Where is that taken from? I'm going off the RPGBot summary of 2024 changes that says: "Quickened Spell. No functional change, but the text is extremely explicit that you still only get one leveled spell per turn." If the summary is correct, then it was pointed out in another thread that using...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

How about Yeah, in 2014 that is the way it's worded. I don't think that would change for 2024, so there's some restriction for Quicken there (as I hoped). But there are plenty of other magic items that work without indicating the user is casting a spell. Necklace of Fireballs, for example...

D&D (2024) The Sorcerer 2024 is the strongest class.

Nope. Because Quickened Spell has its own restriction of not being able to cast another levelled spell period, regardless of whether it uses a spell slot. But again, what does that mean for using a Quickened Spell with a Magic Item on the same turn?

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Right. But does using a magic item count as casting a leveled spell?

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Okay, good. Hadn't seen that info about Action Surge yet. That doesn't counter my example. Quicken fireball = Bonus Action, Wand of Fireballs = Action (Magic). Even if the Bonus Action spell is considered a Magic action, that's not the rule. It's only one spell slot expended per turn. So, as...

D&D General Wotc disclaimer in old books does not appear in DM's Guild mobile page

Do you mean like the one on the DM’s Guild that started the thread? It wouldn’t because that one is for Legacy content, which, as a new book, the 2024 PHB is not that. Or do you mean the kind of jokey disclaimers they’ve put in some books this edition?

D&D (2024) The Sorcerer 2024 is the strongest class.

I’m still skeptical about magic items not somehow counting as a “spell slot” when used. The new rule is balanced by the fact that slot-less spells are cantrips or “free” spells some classes/species get that aren’t that powerful (misty step for example) If a sorcerer is able to cast two 3rd...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

I removed my post, because even though its not clear in the text, its been clarified in Sage Advice that “moving into” and “entering” are not the same. The first has to be voluntary, typically part of a creature’s normal movement, where “entering” does not unless the spell says otherwise. So you...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Right, as long as only one of the spells is cast expending a spell slot. So, no more casting two fireballs a round with action surge. The jury is still out on how this rule interacts with magic items. Could you still cast fireball from a wand or scroll, then cast another with action surge in...

D&D General Wotc disclaimer in old books does not appear in DM's Guild mobile page

He's talking about this on the actual product description, which is standard for all the older stuff reprints, and is triggering for certain ... people: The last sentence should probably be clear indication to Randall that his request will not be granted.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

“On a turn, you can expend only one spell slot to cast a spell. This rule means you can’t, for example, cast a spell with a spell slot using the Magic action and another one using a Bonus Action on the same turn.” At the 38 minute mark in this video: Right, but going by the above, you could...

    D&D (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Not a change to a specific spell, but an interesting change is the following (from Treantmonk’s first PHB video): Many people are interpreting this to mean any free castings of a leveled spell that some classes/races get don’t count for this restriction. So a ranger could cast Hunter’s Mark...
