    Lava: where are the rules?

The hotness of the lava might scale to the adventure. Example: the "Spew Lava" ability of a Magma Claw only does ongoing 5 fire damage + immobilized (save ends both). "I'm still going to melt all the cities of the world with hot magma" - Dr. Evil

    Making your own power cards

Excellent work Sunspot! As mentioned, I really like your design, and the site is very well done. Some thoughts: 1) Will this create a problem with the WotC GSL? 2) As a DM, I hope to eventually be able to buy cards for second wind, healing surges, conditions and actions points (and maybe even...

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

Having witnessed caring parents willing to scream bloody hell at their child to get them out of harm's way, I could probably manage to justify it. "Fly you fool!"

    Streetwise skill not needed

I note that Streetwise can be used to "locate the best deal". That could (depending on your DM) potentially make it the most useful skill in the game.

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

    - For a Good deity: I could see using it to give a follower a burst of speed to get out of harm's way ("go on without me!") - For an Evil deity: I could see using it to prod a follower more swiftly into battle.

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

I'm a big proponent of RAI, but (even though the writer's likely didn't intend for it to be used this way), this does not appear to actually voilate 'RAI'. There are all sorts of 'unintended' uses for things that don't violate RAI (that's often a big part of roleplaying). If asked, I don't...

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

I'm the DM. The description says: "The target moves... away from you. The fleeing target avoids unsafe squares and difficult terrain if it can." This seems to imply that the target moves itself (provided it moves within these restrictions). At worst, the target moves in an uncontrolled but...

    Cause Fear: What the heck?

Why? As presented, it could certainly function on allies. I see no reason not to (cleverly) use is to increase an ally's movement.

    Streetwise skill not needed

Except in 3.5, "Knowledge: Local" was commonly used to obtain monster information about humanoids. In 4e that is now usually handled via the Nature skill.

Cloak of Invisibility: Best item in the game?

Probably. In 3.5, we always had players that snuck around invisibly while the rest of the party sucked up the damage. They always thought they were being useful, but their tactic was almost always sub-optimal, mathematically. Yes, there can be exceptions... I just haven't encountered those...

Cloak of Invisibility: Best item in the game?

Assuming you are playing with a group (which is the default) being invisible often doesn't benefit the party, as the enemy will simply attack another party member instead. But sure, invisibility is great when you want to engage in the 'math'erbatory act of solo Orcus pummeling.

    Appraising Gems - Any Suggestions?

Yup. From what I see in the DMG (p. 124) the values on gems (and art objects even) are fairly standardized and simplified. But for fun, I plan to let the players appraise objects for themselves (using their own DMG's) based on the description.

Nope. But if you switch doors after they show you the fabulous dream vacation to the Far Realms*, you will have a 2 in 3 chance of getting the +5 holy avenger (even though there are still two doors left). ;) *Along with a year's supply of Rice-o-Roni. It's the San Francisco treat!

Very nice work Sunspot! Your placement of range numbers next to the attack icons feels particularly intuitive and useful to me.

    Quicken touch spells

The FAQ is not errata... it merely clarifies the current rules (which are pretty obvious in this matter). The FAQ answer is mentioning ranged touch attacks because that was the question it was answering. I did not include the full question earlier for brevity, but here it is: "Several spells...

    Quicken touch spells

The Sage was actually answering questions specifically about scorching ray and meteor swarm here. Both use ranged touch attacks, so he would have had no reason to mention melee touch attacks. There are many other examples of quickened touch spells in WotC products (example: Juiblex in the Book...

    qwal's feather token treee

It's a good observation for discussion. I believe rooting (in most DM's mind) does not necessarily mean actually 'damaging' or destroying the floor. A collapsing ceiling though can be a major event. True, but in context that seems to be its intent. As you mention: if it was not rooted, its...

    Quicken touch spells

No. Same as for ranged touch attack spells. Example: rays can be quickened too. The quicken feat gives a global allowance (i.e. casting a spell as a swift action), and does not retract it anywhere for spells that operate off of attack rolls. From the 3.5 FAQ (if desired): "Casting a quickened...

    qwal's feather token treee

In previous discussions (examples: here and here) most other effects were considered. Righteous Might, Expansion, Enlarge, giant size, etc. all use the same str check method (but do not do actual 'damage'). Most other enlarging effects do not denote any method for adjudicating confined area at...

    qwal's feather token treee

Agreed. This seems to be the consensus in several previous discussions on the matter. As a rule, things do not do damage from expanding, enlarging, etc. unless the rules say so (otherwise, you could end up with all sorts of horrible abuses). As a compromise, you might allow inanimate objects a...
