Roger that, boss! I was fortunate enough to snag a copy of Talisman 4th edition at Gen Con and we got to play it last weekend. It's very similar to 2nd edition (a good thing, IMO) and still fun as all get out to play. A lot faster playing than Descent as well, which is also a fantastic game!

Merric covered it pretty well. It should be noted that with the expansions in place, I've noticed that Descent becomes slightly slanted in favor of the Overlord. It just means the team has to tighten up a bit and really think before they act.

This is wrong. You are specifically speaking of things that are Rogue specific abilities, which means that the fighter that attempts them (even if one of his primes is DEX) cannot add his level to the rolls.

I was working the Troll Lord booth so was fortunate enough to have gotten to hang out with Gary a bit after the convention hall was closed. He is a great guy. Alas, I did not get to game with him, so you few are lucky indeed to have been able to roll dice with him.

I briefly spoke with TB at the Troll Lord booth and he seems like a good cat, so I'll join the salute.

I used it in a Grim Tales game I ran a while back. It was a bit X-Filesey so I didnt want any big flashy powers that would kill suspension of disbelief. I used the psychics handbook and was well pleased with how the powers worked out. It was easy to use too.

I'm ready to roll! It's going to be a blast and I'm glad I won't miss it this year as I feared I might.

If WOTC would release a D20 Modern book featuring rules like those found in SWSE, I would be all in. As it stands, I like the D20 modern rules only slightly better than Spycraft, and only because they have a broader focus. I am less inclined to play a spy style game than a military ops style...

They are printings, not new editions. Their are only minor variances between the last two. The first printing had lots of editing issues but the same rules as well. The new 3rd printing looks more polished, but is the same ruleset.

I can honestly say vis a vis the WFRP comments in this thread that I can't fault those cats for going that route. WFRP has a very different feel for me than D&D or C&C, but it's one of the most fun fantasy games I've ever had the pleasure of playing. I still do one-offs when I get a chance and...

I think you'll find little "combat" here. I am a C&C fan, but I know that it does no good to denigrate anyone's system choice here. I will play my game and I hope you get to play yours. ;)

I play C&C now, although I've got an internet game of 3.5 going ATM, which is fun as well.

We are playing in the New Republic era. I really like the Legacy era, but for the game, Ill take New Republic or KoTOR era.
