A character concept I was thinking about recently was using an arcane trickster for a sorceress concept. I started thinking about classes and concepts and how you really don't need to play a class. Anyways, I started doodling with the GIMP and ended up with this image:
Do you gamers find it...
Howbout:
Color (X or Y) = 4
Between Double and Triple, Color +4
Between Triple and Bulls, Color +6
Double, Color x3
Triple, Color x4
Bulls = 17
Throw 7 times, drop 1
EDIT: Might never get a double though, with emphasis being to hit a bull
I have no problem with having the characters indulge in the Exploration Pillar of the game. When the players actively explore a room, chest, etc., I offer them the narration reigns and a roll to beat a DC. Sometimes with advantage due to an entertaining narration.
When I make a drop bag, I...
I think Metamagic and Font of Magic or strong enough to warrant a cropped spell list. Its like amateur night at spell club, and the arcanists are enjoying casting up slotted spells. Then in walks the sorceress and then the real magic begins.
Some of us use classes only as the basis for our theme. I can create a monk or a sorcerer without using those classes, for instance. We choose the class(es) that helps us achieve our concept without adding too much baggage. I found it is pretty hard to break a character(make them non viable) in...
I think that is an over exaggeration. I do agree that it is wise to discuss with your DM any class before building a character. I tend to have a similar nit pick with the UA Ranger BM and DM input with the companion selection.
IMO, a DM that hands out Inspiration will be more likely to refresh...
As a DM I allow ToC refresh per RAW. The trade off for the power is that they do not have the utility of a wizard's spell book. To me that is the design focus and it works.
I started writing a story using a Wild Mage that had a level dip in Life Cleric. The story is unfinished but I continued leveling him up in game. I got in trouble for making the Bard cry. I told him don't cry, we still need a fifth player that is willing to wear tights.
Yes generating is easy. What I didn't splain was the hassle of creating/managing the charts outside of an app.
I read Tides of Chaos as ad_hoc reads it. It is not only a good mechanic but I love to role play chaos running through my PCs veins. My DM is quick to have me roll on the chart.
It...
Wild Mage and Beast Master are two of my favorite subclasses. If I was going to change anything, it would be adding to the surge table. More effects! It is easier to do on the computer cuz I can find a d1000 app. Kind of a pain without that tho. 1000 effects really opens up the wildness.
Add...
Not that I know. Keep in mind your PC can use any weapon. Being proficient means you get to add your PB to the attack roll. My wizard started out with a greatsword.
Overwhelm them with class based gifts that create the desire to MC. Level them quickly. Try to get them to have at least 3 levels and be amazing moar damage. Then block their passage to godly glory because they didn't have enough cleric levels.
I agree. But on the other hand, how cool would it be for us old guys to see WoTC come out with a new Starter Box that had an adventure for just the Basic game, unrelated to a campaign arc. (Wink, Keep on the Borderlands). Sell a different starter box every year. TSR and their glorious ruinous...
