TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

Don't expect many people to agree with me here about this: but for me it's dungeon crawls. They bore me to sleep. I need NPCs and interactions and all that in ways that don't shatter any resemblance of suspension of disbelief which — for me —dungeon crawls does in a heartbeat.

    Spoilers Academy Awards 2025

The big rule that affects today a lot is the rule that a movie needs to have had an theatrical run in order to compete. So no streaming only movies.

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

It's very much not a "what influences RPGs in general" but a very specific list of works that goes into my next fantasy campaign (rule system probably Cortex but might go Weird Wizard — depends on the players) Jen Williams’ The Ninth Rain Ellen Kushner’s Swordpoint Django Wexler’s The Shadow...

D&D General No One Reads Conan Now -- So What Are They Reading?

Not only the depression, a lot of things impacted his life around 2017 and Ahmed as a result of that also got a major writer's block that comics let him sidestep but the mix means it's still a "nope, just can't" when it comes to prose.

D&D General Why grognards still matter

Star Wars are not a good example for that though. There were quite a lot of "how dare they do this to my beloved Star Wars!!" when Empire was released. It was just that fanzines and letter columns didn't have the feedback loop amplifier of the Internet so it was more or less isolated. But there...

    Your Pizza Order

On that list, I think my only no-go's are bamboo shots (texture issues) and pineapple (will send me into a full-blown panic attack). And sure, pizza is shareable with the slices and all but it's also highly individualistic what you prefer on it. Might be a different pizza culture here than in...

D&D General It's Game Night! What's On the Table?

Monday there's Otherscape and Tuesdays there's Ravenloft (2014 rules). But if I were to start something up on the weekend? One of these three. Tales of Xadia but changed setting to something something knights in a frozen landscape. Swords of the Serpentine (Maradaine Saga inspired city) Shadow...

Who’s your vote for the next James Bond?

Protagonist actors almost never get a death scene to their chagrin, while the flipside is that the antagonists always dies and never get to return — which is an issue IMO with larger-than-life film franchises. As much as I dislike the Caribbean sequels for going all in on Sparrow to the...

Who’s your vote for the next James Bond?

James Bond is called into some kind of witness protection program and is replaced by another agent and that one is played by Walton Goggins.

    Favorite Holiday Movie

Sadly overlooked when it comes to action movies that take place during the holidays: Long Kiss Goodnight. It has far more Christmas feel than Die Hard imo. Other than that I feel the Mischief Theatre's "A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong" and "The Spirit of Christmas" are both excellent.

    Trailer Superman Teaser Trailer

They did a little bit of that in the second season of Legend of Tomorrow, so I think it would work a lot better with finding an audience than the Phantom.

    Trailer Superman Teaser Trailer

The "earned" thing is why any new MCU movie feels like I have to do five to twenty movie homework to see a new one. I really hope DC goes with same universe, superficially-linked stories route — and I think internally GotG did this, they mostly work without the other movies. I don't want to do...

RPG Books with the Best Art

This does remind me that the art of Fate of the Norns was also excellent. as well as Ronja Melin's art for Hjältarnas Tid.

RPG Books with the Best Art

Obvious answer is the Simon Stålenhag books — Tales From the Loop, Things From the Flood, and Electric State. Really like City of Mist too. The Star Wars from FFG/Edge has an amazing art budget. A little more stylised, I really love the Spire/Heart aesthetics as well.
