If you were an evil telepath, what would you mind switch into to live forever?

Ah I never really messed around with Psionics, as a level 9 spell I figured it would be on par with Shapechange. Clearly a totally different beast we're dealing with. Have to go back through and look.

    Creating Mundane Items

I am entirely comfortable making things up on the fly. The problem is when they make that the entirety of an entire subset of the rules WHY SHOULD I PAY THEM TO TELL ME TO DO THE WORK. Those sort of questions can be important, how long does it take the armorers to equip that army the PCs have...

    Creating Mundane Items

And what happens when a player wants to build a fortification? Or for that matter when they have to mine their way into an ancient tomb to rob liberate its treasures from the arch-lich? Or when they've been beaten and left for dead on another plane and need to slap together some improvised...

WotC: Goodbye, Loren Greenwood, hello Greg Leeds

It's not the possession of an MBA, it's a certain managerial mindset that causes the problem. All too many managers I've seen pop out of college with their MBAs and are certain they can manage anything regardless of their experience in that area. The prime requirement of management is...

    Creating Mundane Items

If you do go to 4e just add back in a small subset of secondary skills as an adjunct to the existing set and give a small second skill training pool to choose from. It's what I did in 3e and it seems to work fine so far.

If you were an evil telepath, what would you mind switch into to live forever?

In order of least to most difficult: Elan, Genies, Succubi, Lillend, Trumpet Archon. Any one of them is most likely to fail a check with only a few tries. The Elan blends in with humanoids easily, but is comparatively a crunchy. Genies are still able to blend in to an extent and they also get...

    Whither OotS?

I say split the editions, have some groups switch and others not and make the edition strife part of the strip.

    Creating Mundane Items

And that design philosophy has its own tradeoffs. You can easily keep non-combat skills and just silo them away into secondary skills with a separate set of points/proficiencies to apply. Instead they've said "Woooh look at me the rules are made of xaos!" There is no engine to determine HOW...

Rewarding the Pcs: Land and Rulership

Last I heard they were running low on the second printing and had sold out of some books entirely. So it may only be available on the secondary market now.

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

To chime in I'm fairly sure he was directing his last comment at WoTC, and specifically they're marketing practices, not yourself. No one here is aggravated at you for not revealing what you're obligated not to. It's WoTC that's drawing fire here.

    What precisely is Facebook for?

They prefer to be called Tcnpath and they're not really so bad, but they smell kind of odd.

D&D 4E POL Settings in Literature to Base 4e Settings On

Dying Earth is probably the best example here being a model for the game.

    Happy Birthday Mouseferatu!

See he's so good he swiped my luck:) *Grumbles about loosing 5 of his 7 characters today to the meatgrinder campaign* Happy Birthday, even a little late.

    Food and lodging

100 square MILES? I take it you're modeling based on the greater or ducal baronies? Because many of the lesser baronies were only a few manors. EDIT: But yes, 3e economies are definitely NOT RL medieval in their productivity. They're more like early industrial revolution.

Rewarding the Pcs: Land and Rulership

Neither Harnmaster nor Pendragon really work for D&D because of the vast difference in monetary system and economic setup. So even though I probably shouldn't I'll send you links to a couple scans of some worksheets from Magical Medieval Society: Western Europe. The two most pertinent to...

    D&D 4E 4E is like WoW (NOT!)

4e has absorbed many ideas from MMOs but it hasn't directly translated or ripped them. Instead the designers found their own way to introduce the same sort of tactical elements through their own mechanics. That said the AIs in MMOs are some of the stupidest out there. Not surprising...

Rewarding the Pcs: Land and Rulership

There's another thread about this in Rules forum you can take a look here Here's my own contribution to your idea I will recommend pointing you at three sources of info on this. First is Expeditious Retreat Press, Magical Medieval Society covers all the pertinent things relating to feudalism...

    Terminator as an RPG...HELP needed

CP2020 is probably the best system for this, only minor tweaks would be required. Storyteller would work, in fact if you've got Exalted their Alchemicals expansion pretty much dealt with terminator style android/cyborgs. You could run characters as heroic mortals and terminators as...

    D&D 4E 4E in Car-speak: "No Sale"

For me 3e is my Daytona, it's an ugly little car many people claim is too old and outdated to make your primary ride anymore. But they're only looking as far as the crappy paint and out of style t-tops. I don't really care that the tinting is peeling and its sound system won't play MP3s...
