    Designing a wow campaign

This is a first draft of races for a WoW Homebrew that I've been trying to find time to make: Human Ability Scores: +2 Charisma, +2 Intelligence Size: Medium Speed: 6 squares Vision: Normal Languages: Common, choice of one other Skill Bonuses: +2 Diplomacy, +2 Perception Human Weapon...

    Taking the High Ground

My players had a situation where they had a creature down the stairs trying to throw up the stairs at them. Instead of a bonus to attack for them, I gave them a cover bonus against enemy ranged attacks.

Does your DM hide their rolls?

I do mainly because of a space issue. I like having all of the monster stats and a my own map of the battle (so I can mark things like traps or hidden enemies) out of the players view. So far I haven't fudged the numbers against the players at all, and the only times I have done so is with HP...

D&D 4E House Rules for a 4e WoW Game- Looking for constructive criticism

For the most part I agree. There are some classes, like the Druid, which wouldn't be found outside of Night Elves or Taurens... but then again it could make for a very interesting plot to have an Orc or Human be the first druid in the land. For this I would leave it up to the players to choose...

    Is darkness broken

I would consider yourself lucky, I didn't hear about any sort of traps. Yes, the encounter seems a bit forced, as the door locks (I'm guessing for no reason) behind the players and then they are put into a situation where they are heavily disadvantaged. I guess the best thing to do would be to...

    Rituals as Rewards

If one of the handbooks has something about this, please point me in the right direction. How does one give our rituals or ritual books out as rewards? They seem to have less use than magical items, so probably shouldn't replace a magical item that a caster would get instead, but are more rare...

D&D 4E House Rules for a 4e WoW Game- Looking for constructive criticism

Of the house rules, this is the one that makes me tilt my head in question the most. At level 5, you have up to a +2 bonus if you use points. At level 10, you could have a +5, and at level 20 you could have a +10. Because these refresh on session, I think they could very much be a game...

    Invisible

Invisibility all depends on the RP skills of the players and DM, in both cases of when a monster is invisible and when a player is invisible. As a DM, I would say that it depends on the type of monster you are fighting. If you have semi-intelligent creatures and one of them can still see...

New DM Looking for Help with monsters

Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely play with the stats more. I do agree that the powers for the Shield Bearer should just be for adjacent allies. The image I had was a dwarf with a huge shield covering his allies behind him, but with a lack of facing in 4e, this would be sort of hard...

New DM Looking for Help with monsters

Inside of the dwarf stronghold, I had the idea of having my party get cornered by a group of these guys: My party is very meele based, 5 meele characters and 1 wizard. I wanted to give the meelers a challange since they are very good at surrounding creatures and pulling them apart with CA...

    Open Source D&D World

Damn, thought I put on in. http://www.cartographersguild.com/ http://forum.cartographersguild.com/forumdisplay.php?55-Cooperative-Worldbuilding-Project

    Open Source D&D World

I do like the principle of the idea, as I like world building. You may want to head over to the cartographer's guild and see if you could help out there instead though. They have a cooperative world building project that they create maps for (and sometimes other things). Some people may...

    Open Source D&D World

I can only mention places I've heard of, but http://www.wikispaces.com offers free wiki hosting up to a certain size and http://sites.google.com seems to have some sort of wiki services. If you are looking to customize it a bit more, you might want to look into the cost of hosting it yourself...

Dungeon Crawl... how do you do it?

I'd completely agree. I've been running KotSF for the past few sessions and I wish I had noticed the blog and updated version. Luckily they've avoided or not reached some of the bigger changes yet. If you can, try and figure out where you are going with the campaign after KotSF. If you want...

DM Encounter Helper - updated to v0.7

On my laptop yes. Followed the link and "repaired" my install of it though and things seem to work fine now. I used the program this weekend with my group and I think that I'm going to use it more in the future. I had an XLS spreadsheet that was doing what this app was mostly doing, but I...

DM Encounter Helper - updated to v0.7

On both my windows Vista and XP machines, the program will open for a few seconds and then crash to the desktop.

    D&D 4E D&D Minion, app for managing 4E encounters

I would disagree depending on how you do it. Right now I use an MS Excel sheet to track combat (which looks a lot like your program). I don't "update" the HP values for creatures, all I do is enter how much damage they took that round and it automatically deducts it from their total HP. Also...

    DnD on Microsoft Surface Update

Honestly I can think of many applications for a multi-touch table, both in gaming and beyond. Honestly, there are few board games that I wouldn't want to have on a touch table. Quick and easy setup and the ability to save the game at any time? The ability to have a whole library of games...

How Much Would You Pay For Microsoft Surface?

It all depends on what it could do... In saying this, I mean in terms of hardware, not software. Is it possible for me to embed some sort of RFID chip into the bottom of my LOTR or D&D miniatures and have the table keep track of their locations? If so, I'd buy it just for the miniature...

Use the Force is Cha-based?! (not...Wis?)

Honestly, what you just said suggests to me a "Want to be everything syndrome". If this was 4e and we were having this discussion... you just described a character wanting to be a Wizard, Fighter and Rogue... all rolled into one class and with all of the benefits of each. I will admit that I...
