My sweet two whip wielding fighter (PEACH)

Ahhh. So it's like saying "please don't shoot me in the gut" to people you meet at the golf club... Not exactly incorrect, but it shouldn't be necessary? :p

My sweet two whip wielding fighter (PEACH)

I did wonder about that. Sure, it's a little long and unwieldy, but the hover-text is really the only thing that makes it annoying, since noone knows what it means then. If PEACH had the right hover-text, then it wouldn't really be all that bad, surely?

ugh math... str dex fighter in hide.

Is that so bad? Scale has a speed penalty, not to mention that you have to cough up feats to get it...

ugh math... str dex fighter in hide.

The way the maths works out, if you start with a dex of 20 and buy it up every level, you'll have the same AC in hide or in plate.

    I love skill powers.

There are some powers that are entirely non-combat focussed, like the paladin level 2 one that gives +4 on Diplomacy checks until the end of the encounter... Personally I really like the look of the skill powers. I haven't read through them in a great deal of detail, but I'm very tempted to...

Fun Excercise - Build me a Cylon Centurion!

You could always go sorceror, and chuck around rays from your gun!

    Please Examine And Critique Honestly. I had to look it up when I first saw it, too ^^;;

    Save my Warlord

I think most of the important stuff has already been said here... Basically, leaders are a very particular type of character. You have to consider any damage that is dealt as a result of your buffs to be *your* damage, not theirs. Re: furious smash, I really quite like it. It's particularly good...

    D&D 4E 4e Sorcerer Power Question

Taking my sorceror as a baseline, he's Cha 20, Dex 16. So, Dazzling ray does: 6d6+Cha+Dex = 21+5+3=29 Ice Javelins does: 1d10+Cha+Dex+ongoing 5=5.5+5+3+7.5=23, 3 times = 69. Yes, you need three targets to get this much out of it, but even with two you're looking at a lot more damage...

Coup de grace useless beyond Heroric Tier?

I think that not increasing their crit damage was an intentional decision, rather than an oversight on the designers' part. I personally would be really quite annoyed if a solo did a big attack, got a crit, and killed me through no fault of the party - critical hits are still nasty whenever they...

D&D 5E What direction should 5th edition take?

That's because ability checks have always been terrible. The stat means pretty much nothing beside a d20 - an average human has something like a 20% chance of beating the Sarlacc in a tug of war. These days there are skills to use in place of most of the stats, so at least you can be trained or...

    Two-fisted Shooter feat?

Sweet! I've been waiting for them to make crossbows into an implement for months! I'd already had the acid orb idea, but I didn't have a way to make the crossbow into an implement. Thank you mister bard! On the downside, this is going to take ALL of my feats >.< Let's see... Rogue Multiclass...

    Breaking in your mount?

Exactly. If you fail the skill challenge, does the DM take away your mount? That would suck, since you obviously want to have one, otherwise you wouldn't be going to all this trouble...

    Two questions.

While marks don't stack, it is worth mentioning that a single monster can be hit by a mark, a hunter's quarry and a warlock's curse, since they aren't marks (well, except for the mark) ^^ Playing 4th without the grid seems to be a huge waste of most of the development that's gone into it...

D&D 5E What direction should 5th edition take?

The hero points you are describing sound very similar to the vitality points used in Star Wars d20, combined with the condition monitor used in Star Wars Saga, at least when used as hitpoints. I would be very cautious about having any spendable resource awarded through narrative play being used...

D&D 5E What direction should 5th edition take?

I'm with him on this. There are plenty of games where getting into a fight means there's a very real chance of you dying of tetanus in a week's time, but a lot of people don't want to play that game, and universal systems are less good than bespoke systems - you can tell, because otherwise we'd...

    Two-fisted Shooter feat?

My plan was to play a sorceror/daggermaster, and fling around area attacks with an 18-20 crit range. That way I get a whole bunch of free crossbow attacks, and it only costs one feat to do... And let's be honest, I wasn't using that hand anyway.

    Death saving throw count

Unless you're in a pretty nasty situation, it should be possible for your party to get you up before you even make a death save. I know it's not always possible, but that's kind of the point. Staying out of combat is a pretty extreme response to finding this out - fights are supposed to be...

Blink Strike + Hammerfall Step = 7 squares of Teleport?

If you teleport them twice, they'd need to make two saves to avoid being dropped off a cliff, too (assuming you're onboard with the save vs. teleport thing).

D&D 5E What direction should 5th edition take?

The reason why the stats are as they are is for legacy reasons rather than reasons of practicality. It would make more sense to have average stats be 0, and below-average stats be -X, or at the very least would be more intuitive for new players. They tied the odd stats into feat requirements in...
