Pathfinder 1E Can a multi-class cleric/wizard lose a wizard spell in order to "Spontaneously" cast cure?

Indeed. Again, I ask for the source? The one that supports your claim that it only counts for determining whether or not you get the ability (on/off) and is not otherwise based on the level in the class. Which directly contracts the part where the PRD says it is based on your level in the...

Pathfinder 1E Can a multi-class cleric/wizard lose a wizard spell in order to "Spontaneously" cast cure?

It's not a matter of banning it; it's a matter of including it. It is not part of the game by RAW, RAI, or convention. The designers themselves have said so on the paizo message boards for RAI. The PRD covers it for RAW. Including it would be a house rule. Possibly a good balanced house rule...

Pathfinder 1E Can a multi-class cleric/wizard lose a wizard spell in order to "Spontaneously" cast cure?

Source? The section on multi-classing clearly states that the class abilities are based on the number of levels in the class in question and don't say anywhere that it's just for whether or not a class has an ability.

Pathfinder 1E Can a multi-class cleric/wizard lose a wizard spell in order to "Spontaneously" cast cure?

It's tied up in the multi-classing section. Emphasis mine. Cleric spontaneous casting is derived from cleric levels and is therefore based on the character's total number of cleric levels, as explicitly called out in the PRD quote above. Cleric spell slots come from cleric levels. Wizard...

D&D 5E Are you happy with the Bard being a full spellcaster?

The 1e Bard was a primary spell-caster. It had spell progression not too different from a cleric or druid with the full compliment of spell levels at the time. It did require a bunch of oddball dual-classing, though, which does offset this somewhat due to delayed access. Edit: It wasn't the...

D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Big Beasts

Sure, but those animals have different common-use/generic names vs scientific names. In the case of dinos, the common-use names are the same as (or close to) the scientific names. At least when you say "Tyrannosaurus Rex" people know what you mean - on account of it being the common name of the...

D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Big Beasts

This article covers two of my pet peeves from 3e and 4e (I'm edition agnostic, all versions of D&D can grind my gears and make me dance). These two peeves are: 3e's Dire-Hippo spikey nonsense and 4e's cringe worthy Webvenom Meanspider silliness. (althouth 3e did technically start it with...

D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Defining Our Terms

I would prefer something like 4e, but even tighter, wherein a creature's "type" consists of ORIGIN + FORM + DESCRIPTOR(S). Descriptors are optional. Origins: Abberant, Astral, Fey, Magical, Natural, Primordial, Shadow Forms: Beast, Humanoid, Monstrosity Descriptors: Construct, Dragon, Ooze...

    D&D 5E Legends & Lore 4/1/2013

That's not at the start, though is it? That'sl after he's "Graduated" from Roke. At the start he casts one fog spell and is then spent. Which is why I said "as well as any other edition of D&D". Note that I never contended at AD&D, 3e, 4e, or any other edition is better or worse? Which is why...

    D&D 5E Legends & Lore 4/1/2013

There is a significant difference. That difference is the whole point of this thread. A 1st level PC is a cut above average in all editions of D&D - it is just a matter of degree and supported play styles. Only for certain play styles. 0-level has never been the intended starting point for...

Who said anything about average people? They're not (yet) heroes is all. They certainly have potential and a bit more than the average joe. It is simply a matter of degree and playstyle. ... making him a 1st level sorcerer or wizard. As opposed to a 1st level commoner or zero-level NPC...

D&D 5E Should Cure and Inflict Wounds should be touch spells? *Now with a Survey!* REVEALED TO ALL

This. Even better IMO, leave Cure Wounds as a touch spell and add cool Healing-domain-only spells that provide unique and interesting ways to heal. E.g. "Healing Word" lets you heal at a distance. "Saving Grace" lets you heal as a reaction that can save the target from dropping/dying if...

D&D 5E Speculation on the Barbarian DD Next Class

I also speculate that it will be some kind of warrior/mage class, roughly analogous to a B/X elf, AD&D Fighter/Magic-User, 3e duskblade or swordsage, and 4E swordmage. Traditionally, it has been difficult to think of a name for such a character without resorting to portmanteaus. Something like...

    Dragon's-Eye View - Reimagining Kobolds

I always imagined D&D Kobolds to be kinda like humanoid versions of Sam: Sam 1 Sam 2 Sam 3 As opposed to mythological kobolds which are blue-skinned gnomes with slouch hats, kinda like ugly, michevious smurfs.

D&D 5E Whats so hard about character creation?

If people want to play a complex RPG they can play GURPS. That is a silly thing for me to have said, because many people want to play complex D&D and have every right to do so. Conversely, many people want to play simple D&D and likewise have every right to do so. From my POV, I wonder what...
