Critical Role Critical Role's Kickstarter Breaks $1,000,000 In About An Hour!

I could never get into CR, I tried the first episode of season 2 and found Matt Mercer's longwindedness and the party's meandering about breakfast and whatnot to be grating But that said they all seem like wonderful people and I'm REALLY happy for them. :D

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: The Artificer Is Here! & UA Schedule Changes

I've been thinking about this recently, and at first I felt the same way (still do to some extent) but I started looking at it through another lense. They're free at first, with additional uses of them costing a 1st level spell, so I started comparing them to 1st level spells and full stop I...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] So art lies hid by its own artifice - an artificer guide

One quick thing to note. I'm pretty sure the Alchemist's +int to damage works with Arcane Weapon RAW. If it does its a slight boost to damage for the first attack hit after casting it. Worth noting I feel.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: The Artificer Is Here! & UA Schedule Changes

I've gotta be honest, I haven't been this excited to play anything in 5e in a long while. I feel a lot of the design space is very same-y from a mechanical point of view, and I've been struggling to build something that doesn't feel 'been there done that'. This pretty much scratches that itch...

Building a Fighter 2/Barbarian 8, just need a little advice.

As the title says. I'm coming into an old campaign that's already high level (I posted about this like, 6 months ago or something like that but I didn't realize that campaign was going on hiatus for a new one. It's actually starting back up soon) and I'm making a Half-Orc Fighter/Barbarian. The...

College of Swords spellcasting focus question

My party pooled together all of their money to buy me a Sun Blade and now I have to awkwardly tell them that it does not confer the benefits I insisted it did, which means I broke the bank for half the benefit I thought I was getting lol. Mostly it's just what to do with the weapon. It's still a...

    A 5e Swordmage?

I'm actually fine with compound word names for the concept, because it compliments the compound nature of the concept. You're more than a fighter, more than a wizard. You're a Duskblade/Swordmage/Spellsword/whatever. But the best non-compound name I've seen was Pathfinder's Magus, which is a...

College of Swords spellcasting focus question

Well that is...monstrously less exciting, and kind of useless on the whole. Guess I have some apologizing to do and hard decisions to make lol

College of Swords spellcasting focus question

So I know that they can use a weapon as a spellcasting focus, does that confer any other benefits? I'm almost positive I read buried in some thread on some forum this lets them add any bonuses from having a magic weapon to their spell attack rolls and DCs, but now I can't find anything to back...

Re-joining an old campaign, 8th level, Paladin of Conquest

As the title says, looking to build a Paladin of Conquest. Seems like a really fun way to play a more tactically taxing Paladin, and I can do a lot with the concept story-wise. Plus its been years since I've tried playing an evil character and I want to give it a go again. Thinking Variant...

Eladrin archer type: Bard or Rogue?

The honest answer? I was trying to come up with a new character concept for a game I'll be joining, and I originally wanted to be a backstabby changeling rogue, but the DM said I can't play a changeling since it's UA content. So while trying to find a suitable substitute, I came across the...

Taking Greenflame Blade and Booming blade all the way

I played something like this once. It ended up being powerful enough that the DM had me tweak it after a few sessions. 1 level of Hexblade for Medium armor, shield proficiency, 1 short rest spellslot, and more importantly the Shield Spell. Then the rest of my levels were in Divine Soul Sorcerer...

Eladrin archer type: Bard or Rogue?

Howdy friends. I'm making a new character, level 1, standard point buy with no bells or whistles. I'm picturing this character as a sort of whimsical trickster type, who's good with a bow. I'm torn between Bard and Rogue, and I'm not sure which I want to go with. I like Bard because of all the...

Putting together an archery build, could use some advice

Solid advice! Definitely starting fighter then. I have no doubt that straight Fighter wins the DPR race, and is the tankiest to boot, but I'm also interested in the RP story aspect of being an Arcane Archer who eventually learns more advanced magic via Arcane Trickster. Plus the utility of that...

Putting together an archery build, could use some advice

As the title says, putting together some kind of archer. Starting at level 1 (ugh) and working my way from there, so whatever I stat up is gonna have to be decent at all levels making this a bit more difficult. I'm used to starting at higher levels which gets me out of some of the growing pains...

The stone wall: a pure tank build (AC 27+)

I feel like a 2 level dip into Warlock would be solid. Hexblade Patron gets you the shield spell, so 2 times/short rest if they somehow break 27AC you can bump it to 32.

D&D 5E 5e character died, may she rest in peace. Looking to roll up something new and fun

Point buy, and no restriction on how many books we can pull from. I'm not sure on the oath. There's a lot of good ones to choose from. Most of them are super solid. I was leaning towards Oath of Vengeance, I think. Oh Swashbuckler/Paladin looks like a lot of fun actually. I'd never even...

D&D 5E 5e character died, may she rest in peace. Looking to roll up something new and fun

Howdy howdy friendos! So my character died, blessed be her eternal soul. She was a Hexblade Warlock 2/Divine Soul Sorcerer 6, and she was perfect. Solid healer, respectable damage output, and damned near unkillable until the DM made me trade out Shield for something else (I'll miss you 25 AC!)...
