    D&D 5E Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

You misread Empowered Healing for the Divine Soul Sorcerer. Its 1 Sorcerer Point to reroll ANY NUMBER of dice, not just one die. Much, much better. Edit: But they do have to be within 5ft which is...not great.

    D&D 5E Treantmonk's Guide to Everything Xanathar

Seems great so far! Though maybe you could change either brown or orange to a different color? Maybe a darker shade of one of them? They're both pretty bright on my monitor and its hard to tell the difference between the two at a glance.

    D&D 5E Fifth Edition.....Why?

4th edition did plenty right, and it was for a different gaming type. My longest campaign ever was in 4e, and I still think fondly on that character and that story. It was fun, and epic, and wonderful, and the gameplay was engaging and tactically challenging. 3.5e is also wonderful for separate...

D&D 5E Statting up a new 5e character, Paladin/Sorcerer, needs some help fleshing it out

Pretty much that. I really love characters that can swing weapons and cast magic, even if they lose some effectiveness with both in the process. Paladin 2/Sorcerer 4 (mistyped it in the original post. Whoops.) seems like a solid start for a 6th level game from what I've read.

D&D 5E Statting up a new 5e character, Paladin/Sorcerer, needs some help fleshing it out

Ahoy! This is a new character for a campaign I'm joining. They had a member drop out, so I'm filling in the new opening. The party is currently 6th level. I really love Final Fantasy jack of all trades Red Mage types, and this seemed like a pretty interesting and effective way to build a gish. I...

    3.5e E6 game. Experiences? Advice?

Oh actually I have not! That'll be pretty useful, for sure.

    3.5e E6 game. Experiences? Advice?

Ahoy ahoy all! I'm going to be running a 3.5e game soon for a bunch of new players, some have played a bit here and there, some not at all, but nobody besides myself has any real experience with 3.5. I was considering making it an E6 game after reading about it and seeing a lot of rave reviews...

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

Mmkay, that's good to know in case it comes up. Man the more I look at the Curse Bringer Invocation the more it really steams me. I'd have honestly been happy to take an invocation with one of it's features (greatsword aside). Refresh curse on a kill or the turbo smite. They both seem like...

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

Wasn't there errata that says you can hold the weapon with one hand while you cast the spell? I thought I read that on Reddit somewhere.

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

I mean that's 2d8+10. That's not a small amount by any means. What's your non rage damage?

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

I mean if I used Eldritch Blast in the above the calculations would all be the same except it'd be 1d10 instead of 1d8 and not getting the duelist stuff at level 4, but I see where you're coming from. I'll be perfectly capable in combat. Baller, that's what I needed to read ha ha.

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

So if my math is right, at level 3 swinging a 1-handed sword (back to one handed again, ho hum) I'll be doing 1d8+3(cha)+2(Hexblade's curse)+3(burning hex)+1d6(Hex spell) totaling out at 1d8+1d6+8(with curse) 1d8+1d6+3(no curse), and then Cha to another enemy with Green-Flame Blade. Is...

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

Yeah that definitely seems like kind of a problem. I talked to my DM who's making similar concessions for other players, like our ranged smiting paladin with reduced damage (2d6 vs 2d8) and she's going to allow me to use a Longsword 2-handed and still get the Hexblade's cha to attack/damage. I...

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

Oh man that was a ton of info! It does seem like the Hexblade gives less than it appears. Especially since with my DM's slightly higher point buy I can start with an equally high Dex/Cha so I don't even have to use Cha for melee attacks, I plan on taking the Mage Armor invocation (works with...

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

Hey, so first off thank you so much for all the suggestions! There really is a ton of ways to approach this and its been enjoyable looking at all the different ways. For my personal inner vision of what I want this character to do, it's sounding like the a Hexblade Bladelock is going to be what...

D&D 5E Looking to make my first 5e character, feeling pretty overwhelmed and looking for help

Ahoy ahoy! Title says it all, here. I've been reading threads and guides and articles for two solid days now, but the more I look into things the more I get confused. I'll confess I don't really know the rules super well, but I'm an old 3.5/4e vet so I know most of the terminology pretty well...

    Woe is me: Character choices

The reason they want me to play something out of my comfort zone is...uh...to do something different? My reputation isn't exactly unwarranted. I've got a Final Fantasy 1 Red Mage tattooed on my back. I've always had a love for jack-of-all-trades since I was introduced to Erdrick in Dragon...

    Woe is me: Character choices

Hey, thanks for the advice! I have read the Monk's Handbook before. I tend to do a lot of reading when I make a character. Let me see if I can explain the problem a little bit better now that it's not 2am. I like to play characters that give me meaningful choices. I want to look at the grid and...

    Woe is me: Character choices

Hello hello! Long time 4e fan, first time poster. I'm having some trouble deciding on what to play in an upcoming 4e game. It's starting at 4th level, and I think I may be suffering from option overload. You know, when everything sounds good so nothing does? The same thing happens when I try to...
