What is the original source for this awesome Lockwood painting?

Small correction... the backdrop is from the old 1st edition Players Handbook... ;) But yes, indeed, a great picture, and its excellent to see a new piece of art paying homage to a work from the good old days.

    Pirate base class?

Green Ronin has an excellent PrC, the Freeport Pirate.... last time I checked, you could get the info for it for free at their web site. I do think that a pirate base class would be cool, though.

Dungeon 114? Sold OUT! In fact - all the backissues too!

Well, I wouldn't panic yet. When I heard about Maure Castle in #112, I drove all over the place trying to find it because it seemed everyone had found a copy already. It turns out it just hadn't come out yet (at least at my local Borders, Waldens, and FLGS). Sure enough, I checked Borders on...

Anymore "Return to . . ." adventures coming out from WotC?

Just a quick FYI, I believe WotC did put out a Return to Keep on the Borderlands back in 2e, as well as Against the Giants: The Liberation of Geoff, which was basically a "Return to..." module.

    Dms, dont you wish

I have to admit, I couldn't disagree more. To me, "DM" is the same as "judge" or "refree," i.e., the DM makes the call. Football players don't use the rules to hold sway over the refrees, nor should D&D players do so with DMs. It seems that some folks (both players and DMs) forget that D&D is...

    Your one favorite monster book

I really like the Tome of Horrors 2... new monsters, but they have a classic feel. Of course, the Monster Manual has the old standards, but Tome of Horrors 2 monsters are just plain cool.

    Dungeon 114 Cover

Same here. Isle of Dread? Sign me up! Now, can't say I'm a fan of the new logo, but no big deal to me. I do like the layout though, less clutter (as others have noted).

The Stigma of D&D OR Help! I'm Stuck in the D&D Closet?

I agree with this. I know that my mom sort of views my hobby this way (I'm 27). I wouldn't say she is as extreme as to think it's "infantile," but I do think she finds it odd that I still play. Umbran wrote: Agreed. A quick question for the "Dork Pride" ;) group. When you're being...

The Stigma of D&D OR Help! I'm Stuck in the D&D Closet?

Baron, I feel your pain and can relate. I can remember working at a Borders with another gamer. You'd be amazed how we could talk about playing D&D without actually mentioning game words or "Dungeons and Dragons." Right or wrong, people place a stigma on gamers. True, not all people ... maybe...

Are there any 3/3.5 Adventures that don't suck?

Necromancer Games... hands down. My personal favorites are Rappan Athuk, Vault of Larin Karr and Tomb of Abysthor. Check out their web site www.necromancergames.com Also, if you want a specific recommendation, post on their forums and you'll be pointed towards the module that suits your needs.

Proportion of your rpg purchases online/FLGS

Almost always online. I haven't bought anything but dice at my FLGS (and I even ordered my last dice batch online). You just can't beat the discount. I suggest Overstock.com. As I mentioned in the other thread, if the FLGS gave some kind of discount, I might buy something there. But they...

Is there a Sci-Fi books like this out there?

    What about Starship Troopers?

What WOTC book should I buy?

I would vote for the monster books, with ToH2 at the top of the list. I have MM2 and FF and like them as well, but ToH2 is freakin' great.

    Where do you game?

Ok, cool, thanks for answering my question, folks.

    Where do you game?

This is sort of a spin-off from the "Why should I shop at my FLGS?" thread. I was wondering how many people actually play at a local game store.

Why should I care about the FLGS?

Bingo. That's my bottomline. I have a very limited gaming budget, so I try to get as much bang for my buck. I guess that's really the core of this debate: are you willing to pay more to support a game store? Since I don't employ the other services that some game stores offer (playing store...

Why should I care about the FLGS?

Sorry, but I'll kindly have to disagree with you a tad here. True, no non-gamer is going to hit an online shop for gaming products, but I doubt speciality stores such as your FLGS, the Game Parlor in this case, attracts many customers who aren't already gamers. Again, take the Game Parlor, as...

Why should I care about the FLGS?

I assume you mean the Game Parlor in Chantilly? Wow, I've noticed quite a few Northern VA players post in this thread. I didn't realize there were so many of us. :D As for me, I'm not a big fan of my FLGS (the Game Parlor). Granted, it is a nice store, but the shrinkwrap annoys me and they...

The Dark Tower: to Read or Not to Read

I'd say read the second. I have to agree, I was somewhat disappointed with the first book. Not some much because of the content, but the writing wasn't very good. The ideas and such are what kept me reading. Now, in the second book, the writing is much better... you can see King evolve I...

    D&D Must Buys

One more thing, if you're looking for modules, Necromancer Games is your "must" company. Vault of Larin Karr and Rappan Athuk are some of their best...
