Wizard's Amulet is easily able to be finished in one 4-hour session. It's a very short and straightforward adventure (a bit too linear for experienced players, but probably not a problem for novices). The end battle is pretty darn tough.

It is a problem if you make him so inept that you destroy his credibility as a legitimate threat by the end of the 4th book of your 7-book series.

When a writer includes a line that amounts to "my bad guy needs to be inept because otherwise my plot won't hold together", that's not a solution to the problem, it's a sign of it.

These 'clip' shows are generally planned ahead to give the cast and crew a break, not because the show has unexpectedly run out of cash. Many long season (22+ episode) shows have one every year.

I can stomach 'End' only because it leads to 'New Earth'. Tastes vary. There are even people who liked 'Evolution of the Daleks'. :) I should also mention that I think RTD has done a good job as script co-ordinator, and that has really helped the show. I just don't think much of his personal...

I'd rate RTD's season one episodes as ranging from poor (End of the World, Boom Town) to fair (most of the rest) with occasional good moments. I'd put his first two episodes in season two (New Earth, Tooth & Claw) as his most effective Who scripts. Again, the rest of his work in that season...

In my utterly unbiased opinion, it's awesome! :D More seriously, there are a couple of threads on rpg.net about it, and also at the old Malhavoc boards. I've been very pleased with the feedback we're getting. There are no plans for a book like that.

With the exception of three episodes (Blink, Human Nature, Family of Blood), season 3 is a dog. And yes, I include the execrable season finale in that.

It was modestly entertaining, and about as historically accurate as <i>Gladiator</i> (i.e. not at all). Good for a harmless two hours.
