What's the coolest item in your game collection?

My copy of Destiny Deck from Stellar Games that I bought at a convention about 10 years ago. The dice box that me and my brother made years ago. The base is dented with THOUSANDS of dice impacts. Very world worn. :) My binder containing handouts from my first GM waaaay back in 1990. The...

How much PC die in your campaign in average ?

Although it wouldn't be a game unless I rendered at least one of my players unconscious once a game, I have only killed four PCs since 3.0 came out. The fact that the last one was Sunday night means nothing....nothing at all.

    Evocative Combat

In the last two games I really goofed up by not describing the bad guys sufficiently enough. It's kind of embarrasing to have to tell your players after the fact, "Oh, uhh, guys. Yeah...ummm...that was a half-fiend you just took on. Sorry." A mistake like that can sometimes change the course...

You're big, you're bad... what magic items would you have?

You can't go wrong with a rogue with a glove of storing. As a DM I allow a flat footed attack in certain situations.

    What's in a (Party) name?

The players in my Silver Marches game take great delight in refering to themselves as the "Heroes of the Nethyr Mountains." Of course, nobody else calls them that, but what the heck.

Do you use spell components in your game?

Want to have some fun? Give your party an NPC wizard with the Vow of Poverty feats. He can cast anything with material requirements as long as they have no real value, but he can trade XP for gold value. It hasn't really come up yet, but it can make choosing spells interesting. In general...

    Epic Campaign vs. Episodic Adventures

My current FR Silver Marches game has turned into a campaign within a campaign. For the last year we have been dealing with a Cyricist plot in Silverymoon, but I have managed to steer the game off course a few times for sub games. Tired of dealing with Cyricists??? Let's go play with this...

Which FR regional suppliment would you like to see most? (Take two)

Only THREE votes for The Vast? Wow... I ran a fun campaign there once in Procampur. Great setting, lots to work with, interesting neighbors...it was great. Cormyr needs a detailed update, but I think most of it could be rolled into a heartlands book inclulding the Dalelands and SEMBIA for...

My Vrock DND Mini won't stand up

In general, I love the Wizards plastic minis, but they do have a few minor design issues. Balance for some of them, first and formost the brass dragon (mine like to fall backwards...A LOT) . The second issue is...why do all of the archers have to be in twisted yoga poses? The arcane archer...

What would you do with a Rouge Toad?

I wouldn't count on that TOO much Dan. Then again, our game could really use a snapping turtle monk. :]

Expanded Psionics Handbook: Is it good?

I kind of got the impression that our party psion was getting bored with his character. 8th level and his powers weren't really that impressive. It was kind of sad and had begun tinkering with some of the rules to make him more useful. Then last Sunday happened. 3.5 came out, we redid his...

Help me! I'm afraid to kill my players!

I thought for sure I was heading for a TPK in the last game. I knew it was going to be a tough fight, one of the hardest I ever threw at them, but not THAT bad. For about two minutes the party Paladin WAS dead until he realized that the level in cleric he just took saved his bacon (Renewal...

Useful spells for your everyday (real) life

    Archfiends: Worst.. Collation.. Ever!

I have bought three Archfiends packs and managed to get TWO...count them TWO Demogorgons. I like the mini, but some variety would be great. From an earlier post about the human commoner....its not that it is a BAD mini...but they could have made a MUCH better weapon choice. Instead of a...

Columbus, Ohio - Looking for a Wednesday night game

I usually DM, but would love to find a Wednesday night game to join as a player. D&D, Star Wars, D20 modern, Star Trek...whatever you have going. E-mail me at toffenbe@columbus.rr.com. THANKS!

Do you ever "steal" ideas from your DMs?

Aristotle...that reminds me of something similar that happened a while back. MANY years ago, I and a group of my friends played a really enjoyable game of the Star Trek:RPG (back in the old FASA days). It was a one shot deal set on a Galaxy-class ship with me as the XO and my best friend as...

    Looking for chase rules

I have done some looking, but I was wondering if anyone had some good rules for running a chase on horseback, or one involving a horse drawn cart. How do you handle the relative speeds of the PCs vs the NPCs, closing distance, etc. If anyone can point me in the direction of some established...
