    Earthships of Taos

I watched Garbage Warrior on Sundance and it was quite interesting (and a bit depressing with his legal woes). Of course I was watching more for ideas for Gamma World/Mutant Future, but earthships do have a great deal of potential for many settings, including offworld colonization and desert...

    Beastcraft help

You also might want to check out Skirmisher's Warriors. It is 3.0 but has three classes (actually two things like a kit and a PrR) that relate to riding/using war animals.

Gold, Earth's very own starmetal or warpstone?

One observation that I have read is that gold is somehow incorporated into magic items (it does appear to vanish with the 3.X rules on magic item creation). With that in mind, gold is a gift from the heavens- or a curse. The givers could be aliens would want to assist land dwellers or help them...

Gold, Earth's very own starmetal or warpstone?

It could be bits of a corpse of a great space beast. The creature turned to metal upon death and rained down on the planet. Now the parts are attempting to restore themselves by imbuing greed for gold. As it collects in larger and larger hoards, its effects become even greater. Eventually it...

Gold, Earth's very own starmetal or warpstone?

Gold could be a beacon. It is sent out and if there is enough concentration on a world(the sign of people hoarding it), slavers come calling.

Gold, Earth's very own starmetal or warpstone?

Could this be a reason for the creation/evolution of dragons? Are they gold tainted dinosaurs? If so, what does that mean for the (much younger) humanoids? If gold has a negative taint, does silver have a positive one? It corrodes where gold does not- is there an implication there? Is...

    Tell me about Alternity?

There is a fairly active fanbase on alternityrpg.net and we have tinkered with the system for the last 8 years. Everything from d20 feat-like additions called optional rank benefits (rank benefits are additional abilities tied into skills) to magic systems to mutations (and mutation rules) to...

    The monster you fear most

How about combining stirges and rot grubs? There are several worms that mosquitos spread. Have any of use used disease bearing stirges?

    The monster you fear most

Ophidians, meenlocks, chaos beasts and other living monsters that transform PCs and other characters into inhuman things. There was something in 2e Dark Sun (and may have been updated) that was worse as it partially transformed characters by tainting their blood. Get stressed and suddenly an arm...

    Non-combat RPGs?

Lame Mage's Microscope. It is all about history, so much so that there are no player characters per se. Microscope RPG Lame Mage Productions (check out the reviews at Age of Ravens via the links on that page to get a real feel for the system)

    Post Apocalyptic RPGS?

2 supplements you should read are GURPS Y2K and the Apocalypse boxset from Mayfair (usually Noble Knight has a copy or two for cheap). Y2K is about all kinds of cataclysms and realistic results of the fall of civilization (it could be handy if the apocalypse ever really did happen). The boxset...

Best old style AD&D dungeon crawlers ever

As much as I would like to suggest Barrier Peaks or Dwellers of the Forbidden City, both are on the large size (and BP has a lot of technology that you might not want to add to your campaign). By themselves A1 and A2 (rather than using all 4 as A3 is a city and A4 is stupid) are great...

    I miss print magazines.

Skirmisher has d Infinity, which has OSR, 4e and other material. It is in print and pdf.

    Spontaneous Monster Generation

Looking through some books, there are already a few creatures that arise from SG. The only D&D one that I could find is the mudman (something I think could be expanded easily). Then there is a dragon in Draconic Lore from FFG, it arises in near volcanos on the bottom of the ocean. And then there...

    Help with the Fleshwarper PrC

If you are willing to dip into 3rd party material, Flesh Crafting from Dreamscarred is a nifty pdf that is all grafts. It is for psions but can be converted to magic fairly easily (just let the player do the work).

    Spontaneous Monster Generation

Kobold Quarterly #4 and D Infinity #1 had articles on spontaneous generation (the latter written by me). I broke it down into 3 forms- natural laws, divine intervention (ie when the gods tinker with the natural laws) and alchemy (ie when mortals tinker with natural laws) and wrote up a few...

Monsters that can hide in a modern day city

I like fusion swarms- swarms that can take the form of another (singular) creature or object. Anything in a city, from bridge to mailbox, could be a swarm of rats, giant insects or even tiny elementals. Thrall roaches, from Urban Arcana, are nice and terrifying. Bug people who reproduce by...

    Ankheg

Actually I think they are more like grasshoppers. Their acid spit is similar to 'hopper "tobacco" (just ramped up to make it dangerous). And many hoppers do dig to bury their eggs. But then, I still think thri-kreen are more grasshopper like (than mantises) after reading about them in the 1e MM II.

Your Favorite Spells And Their Creative Uses

Plant growth. Fungi are considered plants in 3.X and there are fungal spores everywhere. Plant growth plus entangle, animate plants, control plants, etc. means a druid in never far from armies of "vegetables".

    half races and hybrid vigor

Yes and no. I use biology to enhance fantasy and ignore it when it doesn't. Genetics can be used because of the implications. A quick tangent, for one setting, I had lycanthropy as a genetic bridge that allowed hybrids. So all half orcs had to be weresomethings (and the parents had to be the...
