Out of combat balance - skills trained and known

Oh definitely, it's just my preference to have things spread out a bit more. Plus, people are more inclined to take the "lesser skills" like history or endurance. Other than stealth and perception which people tend to gravitate towards as "must have" we still end up with a fairly diverse bunch...

Out of combat balance - skills trained and known

It's worked great for my table. Everyone has a wide variety of skills that they're good at, which makes the skill part of the game feel much more of a group thing instead of just got the skill heavy characters. Plus they can actively help each other more and break into smaller functional units...

Out of combat balance - skills trained and known

I do no class skills, no mandatory free skills, everyone gets to pick six (unless they gain more from a race like human or eladrin.)

    What happened to Morale?

The game has changed to more closely model action/adventure fiction instead of miniature based war recreation games.

Pathfinder 2 Character Sheet #2: Kyra, Human Cleric

Waiting around while someone detects magic over and over again square by square seems like the definition of tedious.

How Would you Fix Broken Power: Beguiling Strands

Hey my PHB only eladrin wizard was pretty good too, but I still think a lot of the PHB wizard stuff is woefully underpowered and not very controllery. The problem with thunderwave is that if you're in a position to use it (ie not hit allies and hit multiple enemies closing in on you) you're...

How Would you Fix Broken Power: Beguiling Strands

I mean, I agree with you in spirit. But there's plenty of stuff that does that in 4e, before you include Essentials stuff. All powers were not created equal.

How Would you Fix Broken Power: Beguiling Strands

That's the issue right there. Thunderwave blows. Close blast three, effects allies, Vs Fort, thunder damage, and a rider dependent on Wisdom. It's at best a pick for a human wizard with an extra at will to burn.

How Would you Fix Broken Power: Beguiling Strands

Yeah, the push is really only going to be used as a set up move for an area attack with an action point or in a situation with dangerous terrain. There are going to be a lot of situations where pushing all the melee enemies away from your melee allies is actually going to be a terrible idea...

How Would you Fix Broken Power: Beguiling Strands

Piddly damage, nice effect, wizard has to be close to use it. Not broken.

How to deal with solitary party member?

Tell him to make characters that stay with the group or he can leave the game. He's a problem player and you're group is plenty full of people who seemingly are not.

Let's Look At Some Monster Stat Blocks For Pathfinder 2

Running monsters in 4e was easier. The idea that making them self contained made them extremely hard to use is bonkers. It certainly isn't any harder to go from player to GM. You can hate everything about 4e, just don't craft elaborate falsehoods about why.

Let's Look At Pathfinder 2's Weapons!

It'd be much easier for an average person to kill you with a knife than a clumsy heavy "greatsword." Not that "greatswords" were ever much of a thing. That's the other big problem with D&D simulationism besides not being very fun or creative. It's pretty bunk, being based very little on...

Cleric of Gruumsh in a party with an Elf

It's a great story hook, and the cleric already seems very atypical. I'd run with it and see what happens. But talk to the players, and see what kind of stories they are interested in taking part in. Not everything has to be DM stuff totally hidden from the players. Bring them into your...

    Why I dislike Milestone XP

I think they are a bit clunky. I just don't think they have anything do with milestone xp. Not that the OP really does either, but still.

    Why I dislike Milestone XP

I'm beginning to think you might not like the 5e healing rules.

    Pathfinder 2's Proficiency System Explored

I disagree. If anything, they're sticking too close to a 3e design philosophy in terms of wordy complexity.

    Pathfinder 2's Proficiency System Explored

From what sense I can make of that, it seems overly complicated.
