Book of Nine Swords -- okay?

I've been using a crusader in one game I play in- nifty class, some nifty abilities, but so far (at 9th level) it doesn't seem game breaking. And there's no kung fu to what my character does; it's a combination of divine might, inspiration, knowing where to hit and how to hit hard. For my Age...

Do you use Non-associated class levels?

And at least two Paizo staffers (Jason Bulhman and James Jacobs, iirc) stated over on their board that the MM was incorrect on the Mind Flayer Sorcerer CR. I'm inclined to agree with them. MerricB has already covered my arguments pretty well. My players haven't yet encountered the Mind Flayer...

    Where is "Impact" from?

I believe Magic of Faerun as an enhancement, probably with a corresponding spell (the spell Weapon of Impact does show up in Spell Compendium).

[Age of Worms] Rules/Options in Play

Oh god yes. I'm begining to loath the spell, even when I'm a player. It can really throw off the pacing, and it makes me think back to a Rules thread on when you can do immediate actions- are they interupts in the middle of actions, or between? Going have to take a look at that spell. Erik's...

    WotC, Design and MMORPGs

It's already been stated about the mis-reading of the knight's ability. It can call focus, but it doesn't charm the monster into only attacking the knight. I'll just add, if I sent my players up against an even CR, 5 to 1, I wouldn't expect it making it beyond the second round, much less five...

[Age of Worms] Rules/Options in Play

Toss in the Race books, and parts of Unearthed Arcana (a version of action points, gestalt), and Hero Points out of Arcana Evolved, and that's my set up. Tome of Battle is also being added in, except for the classes (so, feats, and any manuevers picked up with feats). I like options :)

How Much Does Attending GenCon Cost?

Nice. I was talking with my wife the other day, and told her that I'd really like to try to make it to GenCon next year. She looked at me for a moment, then said, "Yeah, that would be really cool. Let's do it." Not quite the response I'd imagined, but I decided to run with it. After talking...

    What's your screen name from?

About seven years back, I was playing on a private Ultima Online shard. I was invited to join the admin staff as a Seer (read- guy who runs adventures). I needed a new name for my Seer character, as we didn't want a public connection between a staff members PCs and their Staff ID. Everything...

Which rules do you NOT use?

No, I know how the rules are written. But, as per the thread title, I don't use DR not stacking (okay, that was a weird little bit of sentence construction). So, RAW, you use the better DR, as you wrote. By not using that, a character gets the benefit of both DR- the half-celestial stops 5...

Which rules do you NOT use?

Multiclassing penalties- Monk and Paladin restriction was chucked right quick, favored class and all has been largely ignored in most of my games. Spell Components- pay the 5gp or whatever for the spell component pouch, and you're covered until doomsday, unless the spell has a listed expensive...

A few questions regarding Charging (Pounce) and multiple attacks

So, the AC penalty lasts, but the attack bonus is on one attack roll. So, I belive the generally accepted result of pounce would be: +13(charge)/+11/6/+1 (full attack after the charge). Until the character's next turn he suffers a -2 AC penalty.

    Mike Mearls' monster redesign seminar

Among the many reasons I would have liked to have gone to GenCon, this seminar was of chief interest. But then, I am something of a Mearls fanboy. Hopefully he'll post up something from the seminar, and maybe I can make it to GenCon next year- I doubt I'll be getting married and buying a house...

Weapons of Legacy in Tome of Battle

Going from memory on WoL, the first ritual is performed at 5th level, the second at 11th, and the third at 17th (although, I think you can perform the rituals before hand). Each ritual includes a task and a GP cost. Each ritual unlocks a portion of the abilities- 5-10, 11-16, 17-20. So, you...

    August previews

Dragon Magic and Faiths of Eberron are both books I'll be looking forward to, but it's the minis preview that really got my attention. I'd love to have a marilith. The Ice Devil is pretty nifty too.

    RPG.net forums down?

I wasn't checking every 5 minutes to see if the forums were up. I was checking every 5 minutes to see if they put up a reason for the forums being down somewhere (I must have missed the upgrade announcement).

    Keen Mace?

Some book, I think one of the Forgotten Realms books, has a weapon quality called Impact. Identical in every way to keen, but it works on blunt weapons. Spell Compendium also has a spell, Weapon of Impact, which is just like Keen Edge, except for blunt weapons. It does seem rather arbitrary...

    Eric Noah's Info

4E is in development is something I can believe. But, it's a matter of how much development. With the number of books on the calendar, I'm not sure if they have the manpower available for a full-out, on-the-shelf-next-year development. But, I can believe that they have a 4E development file...

    Bye Monte!

I'm a bit sad that he won't have new RPG stuff coming out; since the release of 3E, after WotC, more of my gaming dollar has gone to Malhavoc than any other company (and that's with $100 to GoO for AGoT). I like his style and really liked how AU/AE presented something similar, but very...

Pricing on belt of Enlarge Person

Secrets of Xen'drik has a warforged component, the Behemoth Belt, that takes up the belt slot. It causes the wearer to grow one size category, as per Enlarge Person, except it works on living constructs. It can be used once per day, lasts five minutes, and costs 4k. Since this allows a...

    Tetsujin28 passed away

As I said over on RPG.net, I'd always look for his posts. ColonelHardisson's mention of Pendragon reminds me that, while I didn't agree with all his views, I did like a lot of the same games as him. I'm going to have that sitting in my head as I start up my Pendragon campaign with the release...
