"403 Forbidden". So the group will be exploring some sort of forbidden city? :-)

I'm not sure there's ever a single optimal strategy; there's a lot of interplay. But some things that we noticed: In the first test session, I had to remind the players that they could add Doom to the pool to use Momentum effects marked as "Immediate" (adding extra d20s for their own skill...

Robert E. Howard's Conan AMA With Jason Durall & Chris Lites

We originally struggled with a few points that weren't clearly worded, but those were all addressed in forums by the Modiphius folks, and the Quickstart was updated to clarify those issues. In our test with the revised QS rules, I think the main thing was just getting our heads around the ways...

Obviously I can't tell you what you will or won't like, but my group's experience -- and that of the great majority of other folks I've heard from who tried the Quickstart -- was that once you get going, the game flows well; it's a common remark that the system plays more smoothly than it reads...

Yeah, the armor- and shield-damage rule makes me absurdly happy.

Just a quick note to point out that the Hoard of Yezdigerd and Secrets of Mount Yishma [sic] pledge levels now include print subscriptions as well as PDF subscriptions... meaning that you'll get a print copy of every book released in the two years following the release of the core rulebook...

Specifically, you can always spend 2 Momentum to take an additional standard action, adding +1 to the difficulty of all tests you make as part of that action. One of the developers has mentioned in online discussion -- though of course I can't now find the link -- that it only costs 1 Momentum...

Oooh, I can answer this one! See update #11 on the Kickstarter campaign (visible to non-backers) for an overview of the rules and an example. Short version: roll, then cheat if you want to. :-)

CONAN! The 4th Most Anticipated RPG Of 2016 Funds In Two Hours! Preview Here!

It's pretty common to hit the doldrums in mid-run; the big spikes are typically the first few days (from enthusiasts who back the project as soon as they hear word of it) and the last day or two (from holdouts who've been waiting to see what's unlocked before they commit).

I didn't much care for FFG Star Wars and found WFRP3 interesting but slow and clunky. So far, the iteration of the 2d20 System found in the Conan playtest has made me very happy: it's much cleaner and less fussy than either of the FFG games, doesn't require special dice -- you can train yourself...

They've revealed the one for £100K; it's the poster map with Brom art. The £200K Blessing of Mitra stretch goal hasn't been reached yet. (The pledge total is at $269,088 as I write, but that's only £185,242.)

Your rhyme is not my rhyme; I'm from the US Midwest, so it's closer to "car bores". :) I'm not too surprised, since both games are by the same lead designer (who also designed 3rd-edition WFRP). I have to say that I find the 2d20 system much more appealing, not least because it doesn't need...

To each their own. I felt the same way as you on first reading of the Quickstart, but having run a test session, my group found that gameplay was actually pretty fast and flexible; the various mechanics integrated and became second nature quite quickly. (And Dungeon World bored me rigid.)

Backed. Very excited to see how this comes out, and to have a Conan RPG that really focuses on the Howard canon instead of the mixture of Howard, pastiche, and comic material which served as the bases for the earlier RPG adaptations by TSR, Steve Jackson Games, and Mongoose.

STAR WARS Fan Created Material For Games That Aren't Star Wars

There was an unofficial 47-page RQ Star Wars rules-supplement PDF produced by the authors of RuneQuest 6th edition, Pete Nash and Lawrence Whitaker, to demonstrate how you could adapt a setting to that edition. I don't have a link, because the document was taken down, but I'm sure there are...

Some Details About Chaosium's Runequest 4th Edition

I also started with RQ3, and while it's my favourite version, I think it does have some flaws: its Fatigue Point system is niggly, its Divine Magic rules are so punitive that no player used divine magic in my games until we switched to the (very common) "Runepower" house rule, and the Sorcery...
