I would certainly allow the cleric to hold it temp in one hand and cast a spell. However, I would not allow a player to have a large shield in one hand and a weapon in another to cast a spell without some metamagic feats.

Sorc can cast spells on the fly but remember that if a sorc is using metamagic feats, 1 action spells will take 1 full round to cast.

By just the PHB and DotF, there isn't a bow as a favorite weapon. You can check out Faerun to see if there's anything in there. However, IMC, I only use PHB and DotF.

In the case of extra domains granted by PrC's, it has be the god's domain. You cannot choose freely, unless under the domain it says, anyone can choose them.

I usually do not count damage against objects if it is attended. So if the hill giant is holding his club, the club does not take damage from spell such as flamestrike. However, if the object is not attended, that's another story.
