The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Fantastic stuff!!! I have always liked Varo... he's the smart, calm one. He's like a viper though...you always have to be on the lookout for him to strike. Just wish I understood a bit more about this Dagos fellow... in league w/ Orcus maybe? Maybe this is a power move for Varo. A way in which...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

"...the cramped tunnel was as quiet as the grave." Oooh, good foreshadowing LB! When you said that my skin crawled...In Rappan Athuk that's definitely a double entendre. Hey Richard, yeah I'm with ya. I completely agree that Varo's going to rock their (the DB's) world at the most inopportune...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

“A proving ground, I think you called it,” Dar said, his tone suddenly wary. Hmmmm.... Is this why Varo is impeding escape? Are we getting a little more insight into the enigmatic cleric of Dagos? He creeps me out. I feel as if there's this nasty oily slimy snake just below his calm exterior...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Goblins + Rappan Athuk = RUN! No way are these little guys your run of the mill goblins. If I were a betting man I'd say that we'll see blood here... And not all of it green.

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

From the frying pan to the fire... from the fire to the shredder... from the shredder to the chipper... You get the idea. From bad to worse, to worser. ;-) Hey Richard R., I completely agree. If you warn your PCs ahead of time and they all seem to be in the masochistic mood then something like...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Yeah...it's REALLY that deadly. I ran it a couple years back and after reading through it (3 modules back then) a couple of times I warned all of the players (which btw I've never done before) that this is NOT a linear adventure and that the old adage "Live to fight another day" is something to...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Fire bad! Oh... well maybe not soooo bad. I totally remember this section in Rappan Athuk. I HATE trolls... they're one of the nastiest monsters going. Tenacious enough to be a constant threat to anyone. What a fantastic account of the area and its threats LB!

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Ah man... No break in sight. Pretty soon it's going to be back to Dar and Varo trudging through this mess by themselves. I don't think that the word "Doomed" fully describes the futility of this situation.

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Ah man...this is so cool. First Iron Golems and now a big ol troll. Rappan Athuk is one nasty nasty nasty place. Certainly better than any prison I've ever heard of. LB, you're doing a fantastic job. Have fun in San Diego.

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

This might be a stupid question but, Dagos...who is he? Looked it up and he appears to be from Hell. Some kind of uber-pit fiend? Never heard of him. Orcus is from the Abyss and Dagos is from Hell...don't imagine that those two get along all that well. Hmmmm...and Varos, how'd he collapse this...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

"I am the Oracle, possessor of all knowledge. You may ask one question of me. Ask what you wish, and if you can meet the price, you shall learn the answer you seek. " Methinks that this might be something that Varo would find a use for.... and the price? Pfah! So can you see Dar falling for...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Now I know that many of you are Dar converts... (he's your fave) But me, I'm a fan of Varo. He's intelligent, resourceful and I'm always watching to see what he's going to do next. Varo's the reason I'm nearly always on the edge of my seat thinking, "What's he hiding and when's it going to be...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Oh man... oh man... oh man.... Wow! This is the craziest story I've read on the boards. Keeps you on the edge of your seat at every turn. Superlative writing LB. Keep up the amazing work!

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

"..and Tiros fell back into the cold embrace of oblivion." Uh...oblivion? As in gacked? Croaked? Bit it? Or is he only "partly dead"? Where's Miracle Max when you need him? Man they're goners... Varo and Dar are a done deal now. No way that two under-prepared adventurers could make it out of...

Wow... What a close call. Well written LB! Great conveyance of dire straights. ;-) Keep em coming my good man.

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

I'm w/ Jon ... rather have it steady than all at once and then nothing. I started on the Shackled City but actually dropped it early on just in case I ever get the chance to play in it. I'm interested in the others though. What (and where) are they again? Someone mentioned Isle of Dread...do...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

And it was... What a bloody meat grinder that dungeon was. Don't know how many characters were mowed through before it was abandoned but it was a hefty bunch. Fantastic representation of the overall "nastiness" of Rappan Athuk LB! Can't wait to read more.

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

'Dungie'... Wasn't that the name of that thing? Sadly I had the second and third books of Rappan Athuk and never got to experience one of the famous "highlights" of this deadly dungeon. LB, you're an artiste. Keep up the good work...

The Doomed Bastards: Reckoning (story complete)

Now THAT'S a story...ran this baby a few years back. No one made it out alive... "chuckle". I'm interested to find out how you navigate this monstrosity. Quite the undertaking to be sure. You've got some seriously obvious talent though. Should be a good ride. Kudos!

    best computer mapping software

Xath, Nice work. So here's a twist... I've recently got into trying out that virtual tabletop emulator software from Fantasy Grounds. And as part of that whole creative process I'm interested in mapping software that's fairly compatible. I've read many great things about Dunjinni and think...
