DDI Character Builder: sorcerers with staves?

Something odd is indeed going on. I've got a one-handed staff, and from within the CB it's being picked up. However, the generated character sheet doesn't have it. So it's just the character sheet.

DDI Character Builder: sorcerers with staves?

A very quick question. Sorcerers use staffs (staves...) as implements correct? When I create a sorcerer in the Character Builder and equip him with a staff I don't see any mention of the item in the power cards. Daggers work fine. Is anyone else seeing this?

    "Wraithblade" ?

Don't forget the other direction. The crit doesn't count as a use of sneak attack, so you can also crit *first* and then attack again. So you also have the classic Order of the Stick situation: Rogue: *stabbity* Crit! Monster: Ow! Rogue: Heck, I'll do that again... Action point! Sneak attack...

Was V's act evil? (Probable spoilers!)

Not evil. Indicriminate, and possibly a bad idea, but not evil. Let's look at the order of events: V uses his/her/its most powerful spell (Disintegrate) to slay a dragon. Because of this, the dragon's parent spends all of its wealth to *hurt* V as much as possible. It locates V's family and...

[DDI] Did i mend it with a touch?

Tried to submit and got an error. Specifically, the main window went to "update your information" and I got a popup that said "A technical error has occurred. Please close your browser and try again." Doing so didn't help. Thanks for looking into this! The Compendium is sheer awesome :)

[DDI] Did i mend it with a touch?

Hrm. I tried to submit a bug report through the Wizards help site and had no luck. I'm also seeing problems with Safari, in case you see this. Two issues: 1) The left hand edge of the Compendium is off the edge of the browser window. This affects ~3 letters; the compendium is still usable...

Best use of rituals you have seen so far?

Tenser's Floating Disk to get a bunch of mules across an icy crevasse in the middle of a blizzard. Of course, the crevasse was large enough that the cleric had to climb out on a rope in order to get the distance right... and after the last mule was across he fell. But up until that point it...

Steading of the Hill Giant Chief skill challenge (from Wizards)

I remember seeing a skill challenge posted on Wizards' web site (the main site, not the boards) that covered the PCs trying to sneak through the hill giant steading. I'm trying to find this again. Bits I remember: 1) Skill uses to avoid setting off the alarm 2) DCs increased in difficulty...

Wanted: boss monster for level ~3 characters (my players stay out!)

Awesome! This gives me a lot to work with. Some replies: :) I realize that sending in a single brute will get him _diced_ in no time flat. On the other hand, the PCs could use a bit of a walkover for their morale right now. I figure that throwing in a big-damage brute with movement...

Wanted: boss monster for level ~3 characters (my players stay out!)

I'm looking for a fun little toy to throw at my players, and so I turn to the hive mind. Background: the party is working on clearing out a take-over of a thieves' guild by a singularly nasty character. This guy, call him M, brought along foot soldiers in the shape of a wererat. Mr. Rat (call...

Can you retrain class features? Would doing so be unbalancing?

I wouldn't have a problem with it if the player wasn't familiar with the system. I've found that often, particularly with non-rules-grokking players, that they have a concept and simply make poor choices. In this case I let them respec the character once they've played a bit and can say "You...

[Diablo 2] Amazon: Multi-Arrow or Strafe?

Correct on multishot. And Strafe can definitely be dangerous due to "strafe lock" (AKA when you can't move until you've finished shooting your last arrow). If you want to use a slow, heavy bow, use Multishot. If you have a fast bow that does little damage, use Strafe. All things considered...

    Doctor Who SE04 EP13 Journey's End - SPOILERS

Exactly. Didn't they mention that it was Rose (and then Martha and Donna, presumably) that have been giving the Doctor back his balance? The 9th doctor was willing to kill to solve his problems, but the 10th has been a relative pacifist?

[Diablo 2] Amazon: Multi-Arrow or Strafe?

Strafe can be immense fun if you go the Speedazon route: http://www.theamazonbasin.com/d2/iguides/corwin5.php I've run an 8/2 speeder (that is, ~1/3 of a second for the first shot to be released, then 12 shots per second) and it was one of the most enjoyable D2 characters I've ever played...

    D&D 4E 4e requires a battlemat, and I'm okay with it

We use one based off a dry-erase board. You can get fake "dry-erase" paneling at Home Depot/Lowes/Menards - it's shiny white, about 1/8" thick, and 4x8 in size. Take a steel rule and score the white side - the cuts will collect dry erase dust and turn black. We made one in hexes (and didn't...

    Love or Hate: Immediate Actions?

Love them. That said... My biggest problem with immediate actions is that it has slanted the game more towards the spellcasters - arcane in particular. With spells like Ruin Delver's Fortune (and worse, Celerity) it gets _very_ difficult to actually hit a prepared caster. I wouldn't mind this...

The Core Mechanic: New Design and Development

Though I'm sure the spellcasters will enjoy rolling their enemies' "saves". "Dominate monster!" "Nope, he saved". At least the mages can now control their own destiny. I'm a big fan of this - it streamlines the system and makes it more internally consistent. If you are attacking, you roll...
