What does Videogamey mean to you?

"Videogamey" doesn't mean anything to me because I don't think that there's any kind of universal feel or quality to them that encompasses all computer/video games. I mean, you got sports, action, strategy, RPG, platformers, shooters, racing, and so on, then combinations of those -- and it's not...

Dear 4e, Please Stop with the Horrible Portmanteaus!

I think that bombarding the average player with strange foreign names makes them difficult to remember, whereas regular English words are easier. "Shardmind" is much easier than, say, "Dhalyyp" or something. Especially when you only hear it.

    How useful is DMG2?

I think it's one of the best 4e books to date. So many good things in it.

    Hey, waaaaaait a minute. (Banshrae)

Maybe they just have a really tiny mouth that's hard to notice. They'd eat like butterflies, using a proboscis (yes, I had to google that word).

    Friendly Fire

For eladrin wizards there's the feat Twist the Arcane Fabric from Arcane Power that lets you fey step an ally from an area or close power.

    Raiding vs. tabletopping

A minority of WoW players also roleplay in the game. It's a very freeform type of roleplaying that uses player created text to add elements to the interaction with other characters and the world. It can be a lot of fun if you have creative people to play with.

The importance of non combat rules in a RPG.

Eh, it doesn't take that much to kill the leader and watch the party go down. Lots of monsters are quicker than PCs and can prevent escape. Also, you don't start all fights with a day's worth of surges available.

The importance of non combat rules in a RPG.

You can easily create very challenging combats in 4e without using high level creatures -- you just use more equal level monsters.

D&D Video Gaming News - Hasbro sues for breach of contact by Atari

I think some of you are overestimating how much the average person who likes video game RPGs cares about the changes in 4e Realms. As long as it's got the name and it's "fantasy", it's practically the same as before, in their eyes. A 4e Baldur's Gate game would get positive attention simply...

    Dragon Age

I've understood that the PnP game's mechanics follow the computer game's mechanics pretty closely. If this is true, mages will overshadow warriors and rogues. :(

    # of dragons in the world per type

It completely depends on the world. Some worlds could have only a few, like talarei07 suggested, while others could have hundreds or thousands. In my experience, the older dragons tend to be relatively rare in most D&D worlds but not scarce enough to be considered "endangered".

Penny Arcade posts interesting puzzle challenge

Isn't he an avid gamer? I mean video games. I think this one is inspired by puzzles from video/computer games.

New Forgotten Realms designed by FR haters?

There was a big outrage over the changes when they were revealed, on the WotC Realms boards. It was largely just the few regulars, though, a handful of very vocal fans who were disappointed. What I find interesting is that these diehard fans would've probably preferred a 4e FR campaign book with...

Was V's act evil? (Probable spoilers!)

Hey, if you kill good creatures, they go to an eternal afterlife of bliss, but if you kill evil creatures, you condemn them to an eternal afterlife of horrible evil existence. So killing evil creatures is kind of evil always, but killing good ones is sorta good...

    WoTC Interview with Rob Heinsoo

I think high level 3e wizards are at their strongest when focusing on save or die/suck spells. I've understood that dealing hp damage is suboptimal past a certain level.

Do you not play WOW? Forked Thread: Wil Wheaton plays and reviews 4th.

I play WoW and I also roleplay in it. It can be better than tabletop because of the anonymity factor and the freedom to choose from a large pool of potential good roleplayers. It can also be worse because of players who are either bad roleplayers or don't roleplay at all.

Which CRPG has the best STORY? (Forked from: Do you not play WoW?)

Yeah, Torment probably has the best story in a CRPG that I've played. However, the best story and atmosphere and the like in any computer game must've been in Grim Fandango. It's been a decade since its release but thinking about it still sends shivers down my spine. :D
