Sneak Attack: A Little Too Powerful?

So Azlan, you're saying that it is dishonorable to attack someone when they are at a disadvantage. THIS IS THE WHOLE BASIS OF COMBAT. If I am fencing someone I don't think 'Oh, I shouldn't attack them when they are halfway through their step forward' or 'It's bad to use disengagements, they...

    Summon Monster... check it out

I think that the idea is clever, though a bit too powerful for the level of the spell. As far as I am concerned, if the PC's enemies do it to them as well then this tactic is OK.

    Armies of The Ancient World

Reprisal, the idea of Rulers getting some kind of divine protection is very interesting. As well as giving them benefits it would also indicate who is the rightful heir. The succession could be decided based on who has the divine gifts

    Narrow minded DM

There's nothing wrong with Hack'n'Slash but there's nothing wrong with other campaigns either. I think that you should ask your DM to take your skill into account, but don't push it, that just upsets everyone.

    Permenency and enlarge

You don't have to look like an ogre, just like an immensely tall human. If any of you have read 'A Clash of Kings' then my idea for the enlarged (or expansioned or whatever) character is sir Gregor Clegane, the 'mountain that rides'. He can wield a greatsword in one hand and is extremely strong.

    Liches and their unarmed attacks.

If the lich has the ability to heal itself then it is pretty much identical to having the abilty to inflict light wounds at will, which in my opinion isn't too powerful. If it doesn't then it is just a normal attack.

    Permenency and enlarge

Yes, but you can cast the spell instead of going up a level, effectively meaning the same thing.

D&D marketing: What were they thinking?

Dare I say it, but once they decided that the scene was not going to be in the movie why put any more money into it? It is only an extra and the idea is to give you some extra info about the film. PS. I'm not defending the film in any way, it stank

    The Genius of D&D

I love the hero point idea thorvold. It changes nothing rule wise, but eliminates all of the realism concerns.

    Permenency and enlarge

Is there a way to make the size change permenent? I was thinking that is there was then there would have to be quite a large XP cost to balance it out, I'd say about 1 levels worth.

    Trap CR Question

How much damage does the fire do? If it were just two portcullis traps I would give it CR 4 (twice as hard as one so CR increases by 2) but i am not sure on the damage so the total CR is harder.

    Permenency and enlarge

Thanks for clearing that up. But out of interest how would you increase your size category?

    Inconsistencies in summon monster

Why does summon monster 7 allow you to summon a CR 9 monster (avoral guardinal) and summon monster 9 allow you to summon a CR 8 monster (the couatl). Is this just an error or is there a reason?

    Summon Monster... check it out

Does the weapon get the wielder's save, its own save, or both?

    Permenency and enlarge

why not? In the MM it has the threshold for large as 8ft. Enlarge can increase height by 50% so if I am 6ft then I should be able to just get over the boundary.

    Liches and their unarmed attacks.

As far as I am concerned it's just like an unlimited evil version of lay on hands. A paladin can hurt undead and heal himself with this ability so why shouldn't a lich be able to do the same thing?

    Permenency and enlarge

I had an Idea for my fighter to get enlarge cast on him along with permenency. This would just fit him into the large category and allow him the 10ft range and as well as this he would be able to wield a greatsword in one hand. The problem with this though is obviously the fact that for a...

    The Genius of D&D

Personally I prefer D&D as it is, without the high AC, low hitpopint method. The reason is tactics. If I am going to die from two hits (as mmadsen suggested with the fire giants) there is a lot of risk involved. If I am hit once then I would probably run away, not wanting to take the risk...
