Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder and the ENnies

Congratulations to Paizo, hard work pays off. If anyone did boo Paizo that was extremely poor sportsmanship. Credit where credit is due.

Pathfinder 1E Question on Effective Party Size in Pathfinder

I don't run modules and have 3-5 players and make up for any lack with NPCs/items and everything runs smoothly.

Did WotC underestimate the Paizo effect on 4E?

Maybe they didn't see it coming, but where I am Pathfinder outsells 4e completely. There is no competition, none, because the 4e books gather dust and the Pathfinder books sell. I have no problem finding an oldschool or Pathfinder game to play in, but 4e? Not happening. I hate edition wars...

    non-4e D&D Players . . .

We did try 4E and it isn't our cup of tea. However, our group is very non-edition wars, so I imagine someone might pick it up and if they do I will give it a read. To play, well, we already have enough games.

Is there a Pathfinder character sheet with an oldschool look?

Well, I am narrowing the games I run down for sanity reasons and I have some tetherers on Pathfinder, this would help seal the deal, I believe.

    Subscription levels dropping

The above hits it on the head for me... I support ENWorld because of nostalgia. I was a scooper for Eric Noah ages ago in the 3.0 days, before there was ENWorld. Then my interest waned with 3.5. I don't mind Paypal, the $3 is no problem, but there is such a plethora of material out there, I am...

Is there a Pathfinder character sheet with an oldschool look?

When 3.5 hit, Necromancer games made a character sheet that resembled the old goldenrod character sheets that added the imagery and made the sheet look pretty oldschool, but the Pathfinder sheet is slightly different, and being weird that way, does anyone know of a Pathfinder sheet made to look...

    Reducing Options to Increase Fun

After reading through this thread it is apparent that people will always be quite rabid about their likes and dislikes. I run oldschool games, I also run Pathfinder, Barbarians of Lemuria and CoC (and one-offs of games like vs. Monsters). You know what? It doesn't matter what the rules are...

    2e retro clone?

Maybe this was true 6 months ago, but little by little the clones and simulacrums are sharing shelfspace with 4E. The Dungeon Alphabet has been seen in stores (betwixt 4e books) and Labyrinth Lord and Swords & Wizardry are in the distribution process. In my area more people play oldschool games...

    PFRPG GameMastery Guide

That is why I didn't think that this was a $40 book. I like to buy locally because when you buy books the business brings more books, but I am not buying something like this. It is one of the reasons that Savage Worlds was a turn off. Do you guidelines for food and times to play? Am I...

    Grognard good...grognard bad

One of the reasons that I love being a grognard is the nostalgia. Back in the late 70's, early 80's, as a little nipper buying those books was amazing. Reading through them and the concepts, it was unlike anything else. Wrestling with playing and being a little too young to understand the DIY...

    PFRPG GameMastery Guide

I sat and read through this yesterday at my local Hastings bookstore and I have to say...I was underwhelmed. I am not paying $40 for that book! I will wait and find a discount copy on ebay. Nothing really jumped out and grabbed me, nothing seemed that noteworthy, it was just kind of blah...

Pathfinder 1E Wanted: Good Pathfinder adventure

I would download Master of the Fallen Fortress and go from there. A GM can take any one module and build on, making a campaign witht he material. Our group doesn't use modules, I just make encounters, find a suitable location, and mash it together. However, I did download Master of the Fallen...

    For the Love of Dungeons

My players usually stumble around and investigate as much as possible. And, as Diamond Cross said, they rest and recuperate in the empty rooms. Although Slithering Trackers are quite silent, in those darkened, quiet rooms...

    For the Love of Dungeons

I love running dungeons. Dungeons are fun and can be anything that you want them to be. Philotomy Jurament has a great article on the dungeon as a Mythic Underworld, which is what we use for S&W. I am slowly luring the players into Castle of the Mad Archmage , a megadungeon of epic proportions.
