I would say that rules for creating new monsters is very important, for me anyway.

Not sure why most of my post was eaten. Anyway, if you compare it to a Gynosphinx, it seems close enough to be similar, although the sphinx has legendary actions, so hence 1-2 CRs lower.

Yeah. Not gonna change his character based on the alpha. Will just wait for the PHB. With that said, the permanent aura of disadvantage vis-a-vis melee attacks is a much bigger problem for me as a DM. Mostly because I use monsters that suit the "story", not because they can bypass annoying...

We are going by the last playtest packet. And yes, it's pretty much a must-have as it is - or was. We'll see if it has been changed.

Wizard in my campaign has 102 hit points at level 10. On top of that, he is an enchanter, so all melee attacks have disadvantage against him. It's nuts. I really hope Mearls wasn't wrong when he said he was pretty sure they had nerfed that ability.

Yes and no. It was in one or more of the older versions of the playtest. I for one am glad it is back.
