    Fast moving melee character build

You might also, at your earliest opportunity, get a good speed-increasing (land speed only) magic item: IIRC: Sandals of the Light Step (9,000 gp) give you a 10' bonus to land movement plus you get to ignore difficult terrain. This is an enhancement bonus, so it won't stack with other...

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

'Tis a sad day indeed... Gary Gygax influenced my life in one way or another for some 33 years. He will be sorely missed.

    Initiative order & multiple attacks.

You are laboring under a misconception. Everyone operates within the same six seconds, but, for convenience, sanity and to work well with the rest of the rules, you take all your actions (except "Immediate Actions") during your turn within the round. Actually, if you have not yet read the...

How Many Devas can you Fit through the Gate?

Perhaps, but completely unnecessary. Either they have enough movement rate to make it through the gate or they don't. It's really that simple, I think. The key would be some sort of prior arrangement to have multiple Devas standing by waiting for the Gate to appear. I am not even sure this...

    Readied Action vs Readied Action

Assuming the charge was legal (as in 3.0) and successfully disrupted the Silence spell, then the Silence spell is wasted and the Lightning Bolt goes off. It has to be this way because the triggers work in that order. Now if two PCs readied actions based upon the same trigger, I'd use the rule...

Bump - just hoping for an update soon. :)

    Re-entering a clound = another save?

I think it depends upon whether, after making his save, must he then leave the cloud? If he can voluntarily stay in the cloud with no further saving throws, I'd allow and exit and re-enter without another save as well.

is this a valid tactic for shutting down a caster

Yes No. It's not "encountering an illusion." The "silence" is quite real, despite the fact that it is cast as an "illusion(glamer)" spell. If this disbelief worked, than it would also work for Invisibility and possibly other spells as well where we know it does not work. For "disbelief" to...

Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

I am still reading this looking for something new. I do not own the Rules Compendium. Can anyone answer the following question: Is there anything in the Rules Compendium that puts any new twist on the argument on either side? I am very curious.

Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

Well, if we have to go there could we at least restrict this discussion to how the Rules Compendium may have put a different spin on this?? At least that would be something new.

    Half-dragon hydra

Players will ALWAYS surprise you at how well they do. Plus, Fly-By attack is not the same as Spring Attack - the critter STILL provokes an AoO - if you can reach it. Of course, it is also limited by its low mobility, too. It does have low mobility. right? Improved Speed does not up a ability...

    Clarification please

That's besides the point. I can think of many ways this could be done... Such as... The ones you have been traveling with a really dopplegangers and are simply using you to their own ends - you should kill them all. How this was done is completey irrelevent to the question at hand. The...

Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

Good Lord, man, let it go... There is nothing new to say, it's all been said before and summarized nicely in this thread already. You do not want to get me started... :)

Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

Let's not redo that whole debate again. The case for both sides has already been succinctly stated in this thread. Can we drop it and leave it alone? :)

    Clarification please

This is actually quite straightforward. Since Suggestion is exercising mental control (that is, perhaps, arguable), any Suggestion will be suppressed while Prot fm Evil is active. The arguable point is over whether Suggestion is actually "exercising mental control." I'd say keep it simple...

'no two creatures more then 30' apart' simple phrase, big fight

Of course a 35' circle cannot be centered on the intersection of squares. I am sure we will just continue as we have in the past - struggling with the mess of using squares and counting odd diagonals to find out if everyone is no more than 30' from any other.

'no two creatures more then 30' apart' simple phrase, big fight

Whoops: Right you are. The actual minimum radius is the square root of (15^2 + 13^2) (I'm pretty sure), so that's about 19.6 - so I guess using a 20' radius area of effect template is close enough. (That, btw, is the distance to the center point of that 30' on-a-side equalateral triangle...

'no two creatures more then 30' apart' simple phrase, big fight

I don't think you can have 3 people in a triangle where they are all 30' apart and not also fit along the edge of a 30' diameter circle. That can certainly happen in D&D when the "circle" is made of squares, though. :)

    Intimidate, then Diplomacy for interrogation?

I would not allow it. The "good cop/bad cop" routine involves two people to be successful, normally. If you were attempting the "good cop/bad cop" routine, I'd give a +2 circumstance bonus the the person attempting diplomacy - provided the intimate was successful. Note that the final result...

'no two creatures more then 30' apart' simple phrase, big fight

Um... I don't recall Skip's "Rules of the Game" for this scenario. Which way did he rule - is "30' apart" the same as 6 unoccupied squares or 5 unoccupied squars? edit: Found it: "Sometimes, you can choose targets only within some sort of limited area. The rules usually use one of two...
