Your tone here has, to me, definitely indicated judgement. Maybe I'm misreading you, but IMO there's a lot of people here whose sole purpose looks to be busting chops.

    D&D General 1s and 20s: D&D's Narrative Mechanics

I noticed none of your examples are D&D or a similar system.

    D&D General 1s and 20s: D&D's Narrative Mechanics

If a game has fumble and/or crit rules, I use them. I might describe it as particularly lucky or unlucky, but not in excess of what the rules allow. I do not see these as examples of narrative mechanics, and suspect many others don't either. This seems like an attempt to "gotcha"...

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Maybe, maybe not. What you said is something I strongly disagree with, and I would appreciate it if you didn't post like you're just stating true facts with these broad, sweeping statements.

If a player is currently undergoing a personal crisis, that seems to me like an excellent time to curate a new activity tailored to them and their needs.

"Care pretty deeply"?. I enjoy RPGs a great deal, but I love my partner more. I really don't understand what you're trying to say here.

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

It is a melding of ideas from several different systems some people like and that they believe improve their games. The way you worded this response is very "this is the objective truth that everyone should be using".

Daggerheart Review: The Duality of Robust Combat Mechanics and Freeform Narrative

Fair enough, but if you are using terms like that I'd rather be diagetic. Otherwise, why not just say "yes and", etc?

Seems pretty tortured to me, especially as you're clearly trying to force the emotional component as analogous to a romantic relationship.

What do you think I mean? We've been posting in the same threads for years now. Do you really have no idea what I could be talking about, or are you just trying to show me up?

Not everything suggested in every traditional RPG is part of my repertoire, but the core of it (the GM handles everything in game that isn't the PCs, and is guided by their own judgement and the social contract in how he does so) is what I do. I have zero idea what Chesterton's Fence is, and...

I am surprised I am still excited for Daggerheart

Cute. I love Shadowdark, because it feels like an old school game, and because it's easy to use with TSR materials, and because it's easy to mod. I can make it comprehensive, just like I do with my Level Up game.

Well, my way seems to work pretty well for me without narrative-enforcing mechanics, and I suspect I'm not the only one.

Ok. It's not my position. I like rules and I like the OSR. I just don't like rules that impinge on the GM's traditional role.

Ones they put on themselves, like "emphasize setting logic and verisimilitude in your decision-making", or the ever-popular, "don't be a jerk".

Strangely, GMs and players have different roles.

What is Valentine's Day in this increasingly tortured metaphor?

I'm going to Gencon this year, and I'll probably try it if there's time and an open slot, but it's not a priority. Shadowdark and OSE (from what I've read of the latter) are far more my speed.

Wit is for me a secondary consideration in a RPG sourcebook. I want comprehensiveness.

Well, it's not the only reason I don't like Narrativist games.
