Status of Adventure 3 - Digging for Lies

Paizo are sure taking their sweet time, so I got it from RPGNOW last night. Looks great so far. I like all the cosmic horroribles.

    ZEITGEIST Jim's ZEITGEIST Campaign (SPOILERTASTIC)

I'm not sure I see what you mean. In any case Ravissant Wolf (their cell name--I decided all RHC cells were named for heraldic symbols) will have been training together for at least 4 weeks, but before that, they've been aiding senior agents and doing less than crucial missions--such as giving...

Status of Adventure 3 - Digging for Lies

Thanks Morrus, your hard work is very much appreciated. It will be many months before I get to run this adventure, but I still can't wait to get my hands on it.

    ZEITGEIST Jim's ZEITGEIST Campaign (SPOILERTASTIC)

After months of planning, my group and I finally got together for our first ZEITGEIST session. Taking Colmarr's suggestion, this was a Q&A based heavily on DMSamuel's Cooperative Party Building Technique. The heavy embellished results of that Q&A are here: Session 0 - Rollcall! The cast in...

Martial Scientist's Experimental Strike is powerful/vague

For Pathfinder I changed the rule to: Whenever you miss with all attacks during a full attack action, you may immediately try one Combat Maneuver at your highest base attack bonus. I wanted to encourage trying these maneuvers, even though they have little chance of succeeding and provoke an...

Preview: Digging for Lies portraits and maps

I agree wholeheartedly. It is exactly the type of work I'm looking for to convey the period.

    Rewards

What RW said. I can only take that bit from the Player's guide so far. I may remind the player's once about their loyalty oaths and the assumption of their patriotism. Once. More than that and I'm trying to control their characters. I'm just not that kind of DM. If its fun for them to play...

    Rewards

I just want to make sure I'm reading and interpreting the system correctly: If the PCs purchase an item from the RHC, they may trade it in later for its full value. If the PCs loot an item or find treasure, they are expected to hand it in without compensation. Is this correct?

    Music

Those are all superbly well-matched. It might be a few months before we get to Skyseer, but I'll probably use similar cues. I agree that the Catacombs track is way better for general combat than the one they actually have for combat!

    Music

I'm listening to the Expanded score for Sherlock Holmes right now, and its MUCH more usable than the commercial score. Most of the tracks are shorter with less drastic switches, meaning they can be looped and forgotten about until the scene changes. Hammer Films just announced its working on...

    Music

That's really good! Epic themes seem to pop up in the weirdest places. You mentioned Basil Poledouris; don't overlook his score for Robocop or Starship Troopers. They are both filled with grandeur without being too modern-sounding for fantasy, but they might be too recognizable. In my last...

    Music

I hope this is all right to post, but I've been meticulously planning my pending ZEITGEIST game and thinking about mood-setting music. I was leaning strongly to using the soundtrack for the last Sherlock Holmes movie which has a great combination of ethnic strings and old piano that I think...

ZEITGEIST [ZEITGEIST] The Continuing Adventures of Korrigan & Co.

If I may, the campaign is still pretty new. A lot of people who plan on playing may still be wrapping up old campaigns, or organizing their players. Plus it's the holidays. I can't wait to start posting my adventure log, but coordinating it all, especially at start, is hard work. Not as hard...

Opinion: better or worse encounter format?

Does it, though? They already have the basic text of what these abilities do in 4E. My impression, which may be only that, as the authors want the freedom to put in these 4E-style, unique NPC abilities without justifying them according to the Pathfinder rules. I'd be fine with this, as long as...

Opinion: better or worse encounter format?

This. I have to say that some of the language being used here to describe us Pathfinder people is a little disconcerting. We're "hardliners" who might "fly into a rage" if the creative staff adds weird stuff to NPCs. I truly appreciate the talent and creativity at work in this endeavor...

Opinion: better or worse encounter format?

Well I wouldn't say I'd fly into a rage but, yeah, NPCs and PCs gotta play by the same rules in Pathfinder. It's the whole reason I choose to play Pathfinder instead of 4E, because the underlying "physics" of the game is the same on both sides of the screen. If an NPC doesn't seem to be playing...

My favourite line from the Digging for Lies manuscript

Mine so far is: "Those who do so can make a Diplomacy check (a PC can also try Intimidate, but the crowd is generally willing to talk, so the PC takes a –5 penalty for coming across as an :):):):):):):))." I did a spit take.

    Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder] Firedust questions

Ah. I had the op's question, but I assumed you meant that firedust was supposed to be cheaper and heavier than blackpowder. I worked around the discrepancy by saying a firedust cask was a 100 doses and weighed 5 lbs instead of 20.
