BOED Vow of Poverty: Keep it or Trash it?

The Vow of Poverty is an feat found in the Book of Exalted Deeds. It is an Exalted feat, (i.e. only Exalted characters can take it), that is one of everal different sacred vows. Each of the Vows is a type of vow that an ascetic might take. For instance, there are also a vows of chastity...

BOED Vow of Poverty: Keep it or Trash it?

I'm assuming that you don't play any characters? Try it out. It's worth it.

BOED Vow of Poverty: Keep it or Trash it?

But why would an adventurer do this? A monk, for instance, would know that he's far behind in combat ability and would likely die because of that lack. I'm not saying that no one in the D&D universe wouldn't take a vow of poverty(triple negative = a single negative, sorry I couldn't write it...

BOED Vow of Poverty: Keep it or Trash it?

I'd vote yes on both counts. I've played it as a player, and DM'ed it as DM. I love it. It is one of the most original ideas in gaming. I do NOT find it at all broken. Generally, the PC is more tough to kill, but is less effective in melee combat (and useless in ranged comabt)...

    Should my group break up?

We play every Sunday from 4 till 10:30. Well, the idea was put forth at tonights game and it was completely voted down. It only received one positive comment (from me), everyone else is against the idea. Everyone feels that the group is too special to risk losing. Thanx for all the input.

    Should my group break up?

Actually, in my haste to write last night I forgot to mention that we've tried that. IMC, I have an Asst. DM who looks up all the rules, spells, durations, for me so that I'm not wasting time flipping pages. He also handles initiative. It does make the game run more smoothly, but I'm still...

    Should my group break up?

Heya Guyzos, I currently play in a group of 9 members. I co-DM. The other DM and I rotate running separate campaigns and we meet weekly, usually Sunday's. In Dave's campaign, we're nearing the end of RttoEE. After that we'll be starting a new campaign. With 8 players, combat takes forever...

    Anybody else just really unlucky?

Heya Guyzos, Over the last 6 sessions I've lost 4 characters. Always to crappy stuff, like failing a save by 1 when I neglected to cast bless, or getting critted by a gigantic spider whose poison deals 30 pts. of damage first round, 29 the second, 28 the third and so on when you have an AC of...

So tell me about the Book of Exalted Deeds in play

Both the Book of Vile Darkness and the Book of Exalted Deeds received the Mature rating. I read somewhere that the reasoning was the addressing of ideas of life and death, morality, and religion. The BoVD definitely deserved the rating for its contents. BoED probably received it because...

What to do when players surprise you

    Any FLGS owners/managers out there?

I'm considering one in Gladstone along N. Oak Trafficway, or on Barry Rd near I-29. (I'd like to put one in the new Boardwalk that's been built, but at $10/sq. ft. cost is prohibitive.) Thanks for all of the suggestions. To address the cleanliness issue, I've got that one under control. I...

    Any FLGS owners/managers out there?

Hi, In January '05, I'm considering opening a gaming store in the Kansas City area. I've been the general manager for a restaurant for a while now, so I have management experience. However, I would not pre-suppose that experience in pizza making translates into being a small business owner...

Rate of Advancement and how often people play

Playing since March, 3 levels In the campaign I play in, the DM hands out XP by the book. In the course of 4 months, playing the campaign bi-weekly (once a fortnight for all you old farts =-), we've gained 3 levels. So that works out to 3 levels in roughly 9 sessions, or 1 level every three...

Looking for a Feat: Improved Animal Companion

I sent an email to the DM with the suggestion about using a juvenile tiger, still waiting on the reply. My GF just REALLY wants a Tiger. She's considered a lion, but that's not what she wants. She's creating the character because of character death. She'll be starting at 6th level which...

Looking for a Feat: Improved Animal Companion

5 Coolness points given to Altamount! Yep, it's from get fuzzy. I couldn't find anything useful on google either, hence, me asking on enworld. Downgrading the tiger might work, I'll talk to the GF and DM about it if nobody knows where the feat is from. Thanx for the idea. :D

Looking for a Feat: Improved Animal Companion

Heya Guyzos, My girlfriend, playing a Druid, wants to take a Tiger as her animal companion. Unfortunately, she's 2 levels too low to qualify for it. I remember reading somewhere about a feat, Improved animal companion, that allowed you to select an animal companion as though you were two...

I absolutely agree Can't post the details now, but this character ROCKS! I'm playing one of these now, and it's the best character in the party.
