    BoVD: Your opinions

Due to a recent thread, I'm curious as to the general opinion of the Book of Vile Darkness. I'd post a poll, but I'm looking for a little more insight as to what you liked or didn't like about the book. Let the sparx fly, Sparxmith

What WOTC book should I buy?

Did you actually have anything to say? I'm curious, Pants, if you actually have anything to say, or if you feel that the denial of ideas is the exploration of ideas? --Sparxmith EDIT: I am not a Christian, nor do I feel any antagonism towards anyone who chooses to pursue "alternative"...

What WOTC book should I buy?

Vile Darkness The Book of Vile Darkness is a poor guide to designing a demonic/diabolic campaign. It begins with a look at and exploration of the nature of evil. The author's, Monte Cook's, take on morality in this instance made me sick to my stomach. It is in the prurient moral interest...

What WOTC book should I buy?

Exalted Characters If you're more of a Good aligned role-player, I'd suggest the Book of Exalted Deeds. It is absolutely fantastic in its take upon, and explanation of, Good in D&D. My Co-DM (he and I take turns running games) owns it. Of the books you've listed, he owns all of them. The...

VoP and Shackled city smoking eye question (SPOILERS)

Though I'm not familliar with the module, I'd be inclined to think that as long as the player didn't use ruling the plane for PERSONAL gain, it'd be fine. I say personal, because if the character used it to bring a force of Holiness to the multi-verse he/she is perfectly in line with the VoP.

What mechanic do you use to determine ability scores?

IMC, I wanted to create super human characters so I allowed 100 pt of attributes with no stat being above 25 and no stat being below 8 prior to racial mod's. It worked out according to plan. The characters think that they are overpowered (which they like), but in actuallity, I've just bumped...

    Personal Messaging

Duh! That figures that the answer would be in front of my face the whole time. I probably stare at those words for 20 hours a week, and never put 2 and 2 together to make 4. Thanx! :o

    Personal Messaging

How does personal messaging work? I cannot seem to PM anybody. Or does it take some sort of account other than the basic one to do it (i.e. be a Mod, or a paying member)? Thanx for the info, Sparxmith

    My Girlfriend needs roleplaying ideas

Hmm....Well, she works for the police dept. so that's not really roleplaying. And she hates the french, so I'm guessing a Hospitaler is the class for her. In other news, Thanx for all the great ideas, guys. I knew I could count on you. I'll be discussing all of the suggestions with...

    My Girlfriend needs roleplaying ideas

Thanks for the move Hypersmurf. I was under the impression that character creation/design goes into the rules forum. Thanks for the idea Buch. But what I'm really looking for is new character ideas that I can offer her so she can make a new character. Thanx for all the help, Sparxmith

    Vow of Poverty and Shapechange

Yes. You keep the benefits of the Vow, as long as you maintain the Vow itself.

    My Girlfriend needs roleplaying ideas

My Girlfriend is a very meticulous roleplayer. She likes roleplaying for Roleplaying's sake. Unfortunately, she's not satisfied with her current character, and was asking me for ideas to make a new character. Currently, we're playing in the Forgotten Realms, using the Gestalt Characters...

    Monk flying as an Eagle

Alter Self I've done a little more research in the rules since I first posted. The druid Wildshape ability references the Polymorph spell. The Polymorph spell references the Alter Self spell. Alter Self says: "You retain all supernatural and spell-like special attacks and qualities of your...

    Monk flying as an Eagle

I'm playing a druid/monk and want to know if I still get the Monk's speed bonus when I'm shapechanged into an eagle and flying. I was under the impression that I retain my monk abilities regardless of what form I'm in. Thanx for the help, Sparxmith

    Any 3.0 diehards out there?

Eh....Maybe. Really, I find the two systems very nearly the same for most of the game. I was reluctant to switch to 3.5, but was forced to when i changed gaming groups. I'd go back if I had the choice, but it's no big deal.

VoP advice needed - Any Banewarrens veterans out there?

According to the rules concerning feats, you should still receive the benefits of the Vow. If you had Combat Expertise and your form were altered, you'd still know how to sacrifice attack ability for defensive ability. If you have all of your memories, then most certainly you'd remember a life...

    2 Gestalt players

RttoEE and Gestalt Characters In the campaign that I play in, our group just attacked and killed a 14th level Cleric, 2 10th lvl Fighters, and 7 orcs who all had character classes added. Avg level of our Party? 7th. How'd we do it? We're all gestalt and we had, at least on that day, a fine...

    Epic Vow of Poverty

Hmmm....I must be misunderstanding the Ravage. I was under the impression that it was a pretty mild effect considering the save on it is DC 14, which all the NPC's and baddies already laugh at. I'll have to go look it up. Thanks for pointing it out.

    Epic Vow of Poverty

A couple of months ago, a small thread came up about the Vow of Poverty and Epic lvls. The main thrust of the post was that the Vow of Poverty lost is usefulness at epic levels because of the amount and power of epic level items. Here's my offering to correct the problem. I based it off the...
