    D&D 5E Maybe D&D Should Branch?

Two things here: Monopoly is basically almost always the exact same game just with a different sugar coating. Same rules, same layout, different graphics. So I would not really compare that to something like a D&D edition. Also I think that the majority of rpg'ers is playing only a single...

    D&D 5E Maybe D&D Should Branch?

Also keep in mind that branching out means increased headcount, dividing existing resources and advertising on multiple rails if you want to do it properly. And if there is one thing that the management will usually rip apart in any kind of new business plan then it is if one of the bullet...

Where are you (D&D Documetary Kickstarter)?

The D&D Documentary that went under the radar At least it went under the radar for me. Just found this based on a Twitter from Frog God Games. Dungeons & Dragons: A Documentary by Iconoscope Films/Westpaw Films — Kickstarter Looks like they try to do a well rounded doc about D&D and its...

    Cool battle map/terrain set-ups

We did use EZ Dungeons for some part of our Expedition to the Ruins of Greyhawk campaign. The first time I used that setup produced a series of Ooooh's and Aaaah's. Though we've now moved to using a LED TV as a battle map but I am sure those dungeon tiles will come into play again. They are too...

Gygax on Realism in Game Design

Gary's style was not really pompous when you consider in what time he grew up and what kind of writing did influence him the most. When you read some of those novels of the pulp fiction era you will find that this is why Gary sounded like Gary. And he never aligned his way of writing and...

    The More Things Change

But please keep the iconic villains. Some of them were quite rad and wouldn't want to see them go over the plank.

    But Is It Art?

Interesting video. Interesting question. My answer would be: "I could not name a single TT RPG product to be a piece of art" My longer explanation: I would not consider roleplaying games as art per se. But some of the things that make out RPGs can be considered art to some extent. Though...

Which D&D edition do you *really* prefer?

I am still drawn to 2e in a way that I would not mind to play a campaign in it again. We do play C&C at the moment so it is enough of a fix to have the same kind of feeling like in 2e though. But I have some kind of high hopes for 5e to bring me back home to the old dragon.

    [September] What are you reading?

After having finished Rivers of London from Ben Aaronovitch I had judged it good enough to go for the second book in the series, Moon over Soho. And so far I am still having a blast reading his books. Today I received my copy of Exposé 10. If any of you is a fan of high profile digital art or...

    Acquisitions Incorporated: The Lost Episode

You might not like him but please stop calling names here and just state "I do not like him" and get on with it. This board deserves better things than name calling and mud slinging.

    Acquisitions Incorporated: The Lost Episode

Funny you mention this because Kurtz and Wheaton are actually the ones that get along together the best at the table since the first time they played together. And if the others would not have liked Will at the table from the start you can bet they would not have invited him to the next play...

    Acquisitions Incorporated: The Lost Episode

Not a lot of info regarding Next but I did not expect that to happen anyway. I think this session was not really meant to explain the game that much but it was just a good old getting together and having fun at the table. I thoroughly enjoyed the thing for what it was; friends sitting together...

GMing vs. Playing: Are Different Books a Double-Standard?

Just to give some experience from our group where I am usually a player but at the moment I am the DM and our old DM is the player. Since the beginning (AD&D) it was quite common that the DM had access to book we had no access to and also that sometimes he would not allow certain books (like in...
