D&D 4E How to build encounters in 4e (aka Only you can prevent Grindspace!)

I just wanted to chime in and say how full of awesome this thread is. My home group had three 4e games going until I dropped mine to run SWSE, but this thread has inspired me to run more 4e. This is what the game is all about!

Ran or played in games above level 20 in "X" editions

I ran a game in 3E from 1 to 21-22. I played in a 3.5 campaigned that started at 15 and ended at 34-35. In 4e, my intent is to run my campaign from 1 to 30 just to take the system for a spin and see how I like it as a whole. The 4e game I play in started at 10 (it was a pseudocontinuation of a...

My Big List of Star Wars Saga Ed NPCs

Holy crap! May I ask Klaus just what did your players do to deserve this terror?

    D&D 3E/3.5 Will you still play 3.5?

One group I'm in isn't even playin 3.5 right now, so I seriously doubt we'll be returning to it. I imagine that if we want a 3.5-type game we'll stick with Iron Heroes or something else. The other group I'm in I'm certain will be staying with 3.5 through the end of our Eberron campaign. After...

    Le Gamers de Femme

What he said. I have heard of more than one incident where female gamer friends of mine watched their boyfriend or regular friends play and wanted to join but either were not invited to or even worse, told that they couldn't because they "wouldn't get it." Fortunately my friends had later...

    July 27. Gary Gygax Day?

This. It makes sense to leave GM's Day as is to celebrate Game Masters everywhere, and have Gygax Day on his birthday to celebrate him specifically.

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

I've been away from my computer all day to come home to this. Wow. What can I say? It is like I lost a grandfather. Thank you Gary. Though I feel like :( right now, you have given me plenty of :D :] ;) moments that made my life more enjoyable for it. R.I.P.

The impact of allowing a full attack and a move action?

Yes. Also, 3.0 Haste effectively allowed a move action and a full attack, amongst other things. Was there an offical answer (from some WotC source) on why they nerfed it? Was it spellcasting or something else?

Monte's 3.75? (A sequal is on its way)

True, and if I were to run a game with these rules I would allow exactly that, or something along the lines of allowing the d20 Modern Strong Hero talent paths on the fighter dead levels.

The impact of allowing a full attack and a move action?

Hello, What would be the impact of allowing a move action with a full attack? The Pounce feat allows this to happen in the surprise round or first round of the combat. Would it be too overpowering to allow as a per-encounter power?

Monte's 3.75? (A sequal is on its way)

Rangers and Paladins get Disciplines much like the Cleric, Druid and Wizard. Fighters get nothing. But Monte loves magic, so this is not surprising.

Is EN World really DM World?

I voted no because when I moved to Atlanta I found a group that has a lot of DMs. When I was in Michigan however, I was the main DM in my group.

D&D Minis update from Gamer Radio Zer0 #28

You beat me to it! But that's what I figured. With SWSE skills, they advance at a rate of 1/2 level. If you subtract 9 from the ice devil's stat bonuses, you get the 3E stat bonus values. So maybe it's level 18?

How old were you when you started playing D&D?

You know I never thought about that. Do you think that was WotC's intent partly, to use DDM as a gateway product?

Basic D&D: Did it hook you?

    Same for me.

Basic D&D: Did it hook you?

Hello all, As a follow up to this thread, were you introduced to RPGs via Basic D&D or a basic version of an RPG?

How old were you when you started playing D&D?

That's what I think, around that age range. Hook 'em early :). I would hope that with the marketing research resources that WotC has that they figured this out. Ooh, I just had an idea for another thread. EDIT: Here it is.

Poll on starting ages for RPG?

Thanks. That was pretty much what I was looking for.

How old were you when you started playing D&D?

I was looking for a poll like this and thankfully Mr. EN himself pointed me to it. To answer the question, 1987, 7th grade, 13 years old.

Poll on starting ages for RPG?

Hello, Has there ever been a poll done here that surveyed what age people were when they started or were first exposed to RPGs? Thanks.
