The current group is not adverse to Sundays. Everyone in the group is busy this weekend (possibly next?), I'll contact you here or via your registered ENWorld e-mail if we can do Sunday within the next few weeks.

Boston Area Gaming Group Seeking Members

Over the winter, for our big campaigns like shackled city, we try to have continuity. Obviously everyone doesn't make every session, and I have no problem with that. If you're talking once a month, however, that's what we're trying to get away from :); a lot of our weekly regulars have become...

Boston Area Gaming Group Seeking Members

Our weekly gaming group is looking for new members. We're a pretty laid back crowd that has just as much fun socializing as we do gaming. We meet each week on Saturday afternoons (we may be able to move to a different day) from 1PM-5PM in Arlington, MA. Rides from Alewife are available, or we're...

NC Game Day XVI (April 26-27), aka "GenCon Jr."

Just realized that I spaced and left my flip map in Boston. Does anyone have a map or a set of tactiles that I can use on Sunday afternoon for the Underoo game?

NC Game Day XVI (April 26-27), aka "GenCon Jr."

Hell's yeah. Sitting on the ol' T1 at work made all the difference in the world as far as lag was concerned. Either that or the server is on a better machine than it was last year. Anyway, here's hoping that all the games that I'm in fill up. Matt

NC Game Day XVI (April 26-27), aka "GenCon Jr."

I know, I know :(. But I'm running twice this year and I've been angling to get into AA's Delta Green style game since he told me about it a few months ago. Damnit Rel, this is proof you need to learn how to bend space and time! NC Game Day should be 14 days of gaming packed into one weekend...

NC Game Day XVI (April 26-27), aka "GenCon Jr."

Well, my two games are up (one posted, one submitted). This year will be a repeat of Underoo Avengers: Outer Space (Sunday afternoon) and a new Feng Shui offering (Saturday morn).

They've been a heck of a lot of fun so far; we'll see what else is in the time slot.

NC Game Day XVI (April 26-27), aka "GenCon Jr."

I am so going to be there. And I'm going to be running something this year. Just have to iron out the particulars and get it submitted.

    D&D 4E Help me plan a pseudo-4e one-shot (cross-posted)

You could split the ranger in two and get a melee striker and a ranged striker out of it. That gives you a 5th character. To encourage mobility in combat, and since it's a group of new players, I'd just ignore AoOs completely.

key mechanical elements for a cinematic/swashbuckling game

That would be a great start. It might also work to increase skill points or to start rolling skills together (athletics, acrobatics, etc. instead of jump, climb, tumble, balance, etc.). I'd also consider offering better light armors (i.e. armors with more AC bonus but low skill penalty). I've...

Pathfinder 1E Have you played or run Paizo's Adventure Paths?

I'm running SCAP right now. We're almost finished with Drakthar's Way. Currently the score is Drakthar 2, Party 1 since they've had to retreat twice while only forcing him to retreat once. Since we're short a player, the AP has been pretty rough for the players. I'm playing the monsters smart...

key mechanical elements for a cinematic/swashbuckling game

I agree, which is why I find that action points don't generate that kind of action at the table. Much better if their dramatic action is guaranteed success or always provides some sort of bonus. Then the non-swashbuckly players are looking for inventive ways to gain cool bonuses. You know, I've...

key mechanical elements for a cinematic/swashbuckling game

Action points may work well if your players are really into making a swashbuckling fight scene, but IME they don't actually do much to help. I mean, if one of my players has to choose between swinging from a rope and using an action point to negate the penalty, or just attacking normally and...

key mechanical elements for a cinematic/swashbuckling game

RISUS is a great little free RPG from John Ross (http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/risus.htm). I've played once at an NC Game Day and it goes into my top 10 ten gaming experiences. BASH is the Basic Action SuperHeroes game from Basic Action Games. I use it for my Underoo Avengers games, although I...
