    D&D (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

Heh, happy I don't have to wait until 2026 for Eberron support.

D&D Adds Two New Books to 2025 Slate, Including New Eberron Book

The Maverick is an attempt to simulate the 3.5 Artificer's "Spell Storing Infusion", ie, one of the major strengths of a 3.5 Artificer was the ability to recreate almost any spell in the game. The subclass can prepare bonus spells from other class lists and gains an additional cantrip, as well...

D&D Adds Two New Books to 2025 Slate, Including New Eberron Book

I wonder if the 5th subclass is a new take on the Maverick subclass from Exploring Eberron? I tried it out and ... thought it was a little underpowered, but I couldn't tell how much of that was the base class or subclass, I've thought Artificers lack oomph

D&D 5E Eberron: Forge of the Artificer

Super stoked for this. Eberron remains my fav setting, and I wasn't expecting support until they got their FR stuff out of the way.

    D&D (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

Specifically on MTG settings, the big one I'd like to see is Bloomburrow. Anthro animal setting that even makes all visitors to the plane into animals is cool and different from other DnD settings. I'm also intrigued by the space opera setting that is coming out this year. If it's more sci-fi...

    D&D (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

Just some random wants, not packaged into actual books: Eberron support. Species updated for 2024, Dragonmarks, Artificer, also adventures set in Eberron Psionics. A full proper Psion class In general, new material, not just reworking older content. Sorcerer unique spells Adventure material for...

WotC Reveal Exodus, a New Video Game from the Decelopers of Mass Effect and Neverwinter Nights

Huh. What's funny is how Exodus seems to be cribbing most from Mass Effect Andromeda. Which ... I liked Andromeda, sure it was badly in need of another writing pass or three, but I liked Ryder, driving around in the Nomad (which given my hatred of the MAKO is quite the thing), and the gameplay...

What’s your perfect Star Trek crew?

Added personal constraint, no series can be used more than once. Characters from multiple series are only considered from their starting series (So Seven of Nine is from Voyager, despite her appearances in Picard). Captain - Chris Rios (Star Trek Picard) First Officer - Saru (Star Trek...

D&D (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

I dunno, this seems like an overly simulationist take, all monsters of X size must deal Y damage on a hit. That seems overly reductive.

D&D (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Hard to say until we see the spellcasting and weakening breath. This looks like more of a controller (to use 4e parlance), less damage, but more ways to inhibit enemies. The video on dragons says that the Gold Dragon has Banishment on its spell list, blinking out a Fighter before laying down...

Christmas Battle Royale: Battle of the Scrooges

I feel Sir Patrick Stewart ought to be getting more respect, but I can't say I've seen his version. And I can't not vote for Michael Caine. Muppet Christmas Carol is the intersection of great adaptation with great(est?) Muppet movie.

D&D General A Quick Peek At Tiamat In Amazon's 'Secret Level' Anthology TV Show

I quite liked the dnd episode. I don't know Warhammer lore, so I was underwhelmed until the demon at the end, that was cool.

Arcane Season 2 Starts on Saturday, 9 Nov 24 on Netflix

I still haven't forgiven Netflix for canceling Marco Polo or Sens8. So it is hard to get too deep into shows that have an uncertain lifespan. That said, I have loved Arcane. Animation is beautiful and expressive, I like these messy characters. I know little of the lore, as I tried the game once...

What are you reading in 2024?

So this is apparently the year for me reading books about people waking up on spaceships with no memory. In that I've now read two (any suggestions for a third?). The first was Project Hail Mary, which I loved and brought up earlier, but I just finished The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer...

D&D 5E BG3 Patch 8 adds photo mode, crossplay, 12 more subclasses, and more!

Larian continues to be the best. They could've just wrapped up development or made this a paid DLC. But no, another early Xmas gift.

D&D General Rerolling Initiative each Round

I dislike rerolling initiative, but when I do want a less static combat order I use Popcorn Initiative from FATE. The idea being the current player/monster chooses who goes next in the round. Whoever goes last picks Whoever goes first next round.

D&D General It's 2034, and the new PHB is in your hands.

You and me both, there's a real gallows humour to that one

D&D General It's 2034, and the new PHB is in your hands.

First, it cost a lot of bottle caps. Second, ghoul PC rules are extremely overpowered, but you can't tell them that. Third, there's some debate if the instant death on a nat 1 roll is too forgiving.

D&D (2024) Did you make up your mind about 5.24?

Voted Yes, and I don't see much difference, but I also like it. Ultimately, I'm really pleased with the improvements to usability and readability. These books are a just better resources for running the game.

MtG just made 3 UB sets per year Standard/Pioneer Legal and the Vorthos are mad

This. MTG was trying to drink from a firehose before, add the supplemental sets like Masters and such and it's a lot to keep track of.
